Would you like to be paid to give back to the community? This is a rare chance for a Cambridge candidate to take on a full time paid role contributing to major open source projects. Home working is possible given the current UK situation. Once things return to normal, a regular presence in their office will be needed, though some home working will remain an option. As you'd imagine, the team is globally distributed and work on a host of open source projects. These include the Linux kernel, dev infrastructure, and low level and embedded software making good use of the latest hardware, including graphics. Fellow collaborators on projects include the likes of Google engineers. This role focuses on tools and infrastructure development, to help developers get their code working on a wide range of specialised hardware. You may be speaking with your "customers", but these are other open source developers! Other perks include - under normal circumstances - paid trips to conferences and trade shows. You will have: * Broad low level Linux software development skills, ideally a Debian-based distro * Commercial Linux software development experience * An active interest in open source, as a contributor or user * Experience coding for ARM Cortex CPUs, and ARM-powered single board computers such as the Raspberry Pi, BeagleBoard, etc. * A good degree in a technical subject from a reputable university, and strong A-levels * Full UK work permission without time limit, restriction or sponsorship ## Related Videos - [Discover the open source trio you didn’t expect: .NET and PostgreSQL on Linux](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2042-discover-the-open-source-trio-you-didn-t-expect-net-and-postgresql-on-linux) - [Docker network without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1418-docker-network-without-docker) - [An Applied Introduction to eBPF with Go](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1075-an-applied-introduction-to-ebpf-with-go) - [Unleashing the Full Potential of the Arm Architecture – Write Once, Deploy Anywhere](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/940-unleashing-the-full-potential-of-the-arm-architecture-write-once-deploy-anywhere) - [Into the hive of eBPF!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1199-into-the-hive-of-ebpf) - [Gentle Introduction to eBPF](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/789-gentle-introduction-to-ebpf) ## Related Articles - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [Where To Find Software Engineering Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/396-where-to-find-software-engineering-jobs) - [Find a Developer Job: 12 Best Job Sites For Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/165-find-a-developer-job-12-best-job-sites-for-developers) - [Where to Find Entry-Level Software Engineering Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/397-where-to-find-entry-level-software-engineering-jobs) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [Best Job Boards for Remote Work for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/290-best-job-boards-for-remote-work-for-developers)
