Demonstration of timely implementation of new releases or versions of database software packages. Demonstrated ability to support users of these packages. Demonstrated ability to evaluate future directions for database applications and plan appropriate steps to mitigate the impact of the change. Willingness to accept responsibility and work cooperatively within a development team structure. Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing. Ability to work well with all types of people while maintaining a high level of productive output. Ability to deal with people, problems, and disappointments objectively and

## Description

Install and maintain relational database management system (RDBMS) software; implement new releases; complete maintenance; evaluate computer operating systems and hardware products. Troubleshoot as necessary to identify
and resolve system problems, working with RDBMS vendors as necessary. Design maintenance procedures and put them into operation. Manage database security/integrity and backup procedures. Test and modify databases to ensure they operate reliably; maintain database
performance by computing optimum values for database parameters. Write disaster recovery plans. Work with development staff and other necessary Board personnel to implement and maintain procedures for ensuring data security via control, monitoring, and auditing
data access. Utilize RDBMS tools and utilities to monitor, tune, and optimize system performance. Work with network staff to develop and implement procedures to prevent data loss and maximize system availability, including setting up and managing a database
backup/recovery scheme. Work with development staff to implement and optimize actual database structures using database design concepts expressed in models such as Entity-Relationship (ER) diagrams. Comply with departmental guidelines for database design and
documentation standards as articulated by the team leader and departmental manager. Provide information by answering questions and requests. Assist with testing, documentation, and training on all client/server systems. Participate in emergency on-call rotation
for departmental client/server systems as the department manager requires. Assist departmental help desk personnel with troubleshooting departmental client/server systems. Know the appropriate written safety rules and procedures and follow them.
