Jane Street's OCaml Language team focuses on improving OCaml as a foundation for our ever-growing technology stack, in collaboration with the greater OCaml community. We work on many different aspects of the language, aiming to make it easier for developers to express their ideas in OCaml, to improve the performance of the generated code, and to make the OCaml compiler itself faster and easier to use. Over the years, we've extended the type system with support for novel language features, re-engineered the optimizer ground-up, and added feedback-directed optimization. We also extend and enhance the surrounding toolchain, working on tools for profiling, debugging and generating documentation. The vast majority of our work is open-source, and we upstream as much as we can to the mainstream OCaml compiler. ## Related Videos - [Making Sense of Programming Languages](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/692-making-sense-of-programming-languages) - [Langium: Design your own language in Node.js and VS Code](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/762-langium-design-your-own-language-in-node-js-and-vs-code) - [Using AI Without Losing Your Skills](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2045-using-ai-without-losing-your-skills) - [Embracing the Hybrid Cloud: Unlocking Success with Open Source Technologies](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/883-embracing-the-hybrid-cloud-unlocking-success-with-open-source-technologies) - [When Humans Stop Writing Code: Rethinking Languages, Compilers, and Responsibility](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100105-when-humans-stop-writing-code-rethinking-languages-compilers-and-responsibility) - [Fireside Chat with Lea](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/551-fireside-chat-with-lea) ## Related Articles - [10 Highest Paying Programming Languages 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/150-10-highest-paying-programming-languages-2025) - [Where To Find Software Engineering Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/396-where-to-find-software-engineering-jobs) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [Where to Find Entry-Level Software Engineering Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/397-where-to-find-entry-level-software-engineering-jobs) - [Find a Developer Job: 12 Best Job Sites For Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/165-find-a-developer-job-12-best-job-sites-for-developers)
