We are looking for an experienced Scala Developer to join a major digital programme within a UK government organisation. The successful candidate will develop and maintain both front-end and back-end applications using Scala, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business and user requirements. You will need strong Scala development experience, a good understanding of Test-Driven Development and experience working with CI/CD pipelines, version control and cloud platforms. Key Responsibilities * Design, develop and maintain front-end and back-end applications using Scala. * Work with cross-functional teams to design, develop and test technical solutions. * Translate business requirements into effective and maintainable applications. * Produce clean, high-quality and well-tested code. * Apply Test-Driven Development throughout the software development lifecycle. * Follow engineering best practices across development, testing and deployment. * Work with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines. * Contribute to technical decisions and continuous improvement initiatives. * Communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. * Participate in engineering communities, sharing knowledge and development best practices. * Support the delivery of secure, scalable and reliable digital services. * Previous software development experience within a UK government organisation. * Experience developing both front-end and back-end applications. * Experience using development tools and version control systems. * Experience working with CI/CD pipelines. * Knowledge of cloud platforms and services. * Good understanding of agile development methodologies. * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
