Their agents sit on top of proprietary data and reassess continuously rather than at fixed checkpoints - so customers spend their time deciding and acting on what matters, not assembling evidence to get there. Seven-figure revenue within months of launch, on multi-year contracts with leading enterprises in financial services, regulated technology, and healthcare. Founders from Palantir, Oxford, Stanford, and ETH. Backed by leading UK and US institutional investors and angels from Meta, Isomorphic Labs, Palantir, and SpaceX. The role You build the backend services at the core of the platform, and you own the foundations on which they run. Most engineers can ship a service - you're the one who also knows how it should be deployed, isolated, observed, and secured in a multi-tenant enterprise environment. That combination is rare, and it's exactly what's needed as the platform becomes load-bearing for regulated customers. Your work decides which customers the company can win at all. The security and compliance teams at banks and hospitals won't sign until they're convinced the platform underneath is as trustworthy as the work it produces. You own that layer. What you'll do Build and own backend services across the platform - APIs, async workflows, and data models - with the same care you bring to the infrastructure under them Shape the Azure foundations: Container Apps, Service Bus, Front Door, Entra ID, all under Terraform Design multi-tenant isolation patterns across compute, data, and network layers Own the deployment pipelines, observability stack, and on-call posture as the platform scales Build platform capabilities the rest of the team depends on: long-running agent jobs, large document processing, secure tool execution Drive compliance evidence automation and the broader compliance plumbing Build internal skill files, scripts, and tools that allow others to develop new features whilst keeping the platform secure and reliable What you bring 6+ years of backend engineering with deep infrastructure experience - you ship services and own how they run Significant Azure time (AWS or GCP fine if you'll ramp on Azure fast) Strong in a backend language - TypeScript ideally, or adjacent with appetite to switch Production IaC (Terraform), CI/CD (GitHub Actions or similar), and container orchestration Strong security posture: IAM, network segmentation, secrets, supply chain End-to-end compliance ownership (SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar): designing the controls, not just answering about them Operational maturity: you've been on-call for systems that mattered Nice to have: AKS, Service Bus, or Front Door at scale, multi-tenant SaaS isolation experience, running infrastructure for an audit-sensitive product Working here King's Cross, London (Gridiron building) - in-person by default, flexibility for days that need it Daily team lunch, specialty coffee, roof terrace, on-site showers, serious AI tooling and API budgets Three-stage interview: behavioural phone screen, technical phone screen, paid on-site work trial - under two weeks from first conversation ## Related Videos - [Infrastructure as Code: The Developer's Secret Weapon](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1221-infrastructure-as-code-the-developer-s-secret-weapon) - [Empowering Thousands of Developers: Our Journey to an Internal Developer Platform](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1519-empowering-thousands-of-developers-our-journey-to-an-internal-developer-platform) - [Innovating Developer Tools with AI: Insights from GitHub Next](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1268-innovating-developer-tools-with-ai-insights-from-github-next) - [Developing the Backend with Stefan Lingler, CTO at Shpock](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100360-developing-the-backend-with-stefan-lingler-cto-at-shpock) - [Implementing Feature Environments with AWS and Terraform](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/531-implementing-feature-environments-with-aws-and-terraform) - [Terraform for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/3-terraform-for-developers) ## Related Articles - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [What Are The Top Skills Required For Azure Developers?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/77-what-are-the-top-skills-required-for-azure-developers) - [Navigating the AI Shift](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/629-navigating-the-ai-shift) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [The Best X (Twitter) Accounts for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/294-the-best-x-twitter-accounts-for-developers) - [Dev Digest 159: AI Pipelines, 10x Faster TypeScript, How to Interview](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/563-dev-digest-159-ai-pipelines-10x-faster-typescript-how-to-interview)
