**Published:** August 26, 2026 - **Apply:** https://jobs.military.com/career/319477/systems-integration-support-engineer-maryland-md-bethesda ## About the Role * Linux Systems Administration: Strong Linux administration skills and proficiency with Bash scripting. \n * Containerization & Orchestration: Experience with Kubernetes and containerized application environments, with familiarity with Rancher and RKE2. \n * Automation & Configuration Management: Experience using Ansible to automate configuration, deployment, and administrative activities. \n * Networking: Solid understanding of fundamental networking concepts and the ability to troubleshoot basic network connectivity and communication issues. \n, * Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field. \n * At least 1 year of hands-on technical experience supporting, configuring, or troubleshooting Linux-based or networked systems. \n * Working knowledge of Linux, including basic system configuration, services, logs, and command-line troubleshooting. \n * Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, IP addressing, ports, and connectivity troubleshooting. \n * Experience with Bash, Python, or another scripting language for basic automation, system administration, or troubleshooting. \n * Familiarity with virtualization and/or container technologies, gained through professional experience, internships, academic projects, labs, or other hands-on technical work. \n * Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across software, operating systems, networking, or hardware and identify potential root causes. \n * Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.. \n ## Description * Configure and maintain software applications and system components operating within Linux-based, networked, and virtualized environments. \n * Create, configure, and manage Virtual Machines (VMs) supporting system deployment, testing, and operations. \n * Perform Linux system administration activities, including system configuration, user and service management, log analysis, and routine maintenance. \n * Develop and maintain Bash scripts to support system administration, troubleshooting, and repeatable operational tasks. \n * Deploy, configure, and maintain containerized applications and support infrastructure using Kubernetes and related container technologies. \n * Support Kubernetes environments implemented through technologies such as Rancher and RKE2. \n * Use Ansible to automate system configuration, software deployment, updates, and other repeatable administration activities. \n * Install, configure, test, and deploy software updates, patches, and system releases. \n * Perform system upgrades while maintaining compatibility across software, hardware, virtualization, container, and network components. \n * Troubleshoot system-level issues to identify whether problems originate from software, hardware, networking, virtualization, containerization, or system configuration. \n * Diagnose and resolve significant hardware failures, including replacement, configuration, and validation of failed components. \n * Investigate and correct minor software defects, configuration issues, scripting errors, and application-level problems. \n * Apply fundamental networking concepts to diagnose connectivity, addressing, routing, port, and service communication issues. \n * Analyze system logs, software behavior, hardware status, container status, and network communications to isolate faults and determine root causes. \n * Restore systems to an operational state following hardware, software, networking, virtualization, or configuration failures. \n * Validate system functionality following maintenance, upgrades, repairs, deployments, or configuration changes. \n * Document system configurations, automation procedures, troubleshooting findings, maintenance activities, and implemented solutions. \n * Coordinate with software developers, network engineers, system administrators, and other technical personnel when issues require specialized support or software changes beyond the scope of the position. \n ## Related Videos -
