The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance and any additional program access required for the role. Desired Skills * Experience in aerospace, defense, or another regulated, safety-critical development environment. * Exposure to agile or hybrid development environments that combine rapid software release cadences with hardware milestones. * Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technically credible analysis and status to engineering audiences. * Working proficiency with tools relevant to the selected technical track and assigned CIS responsibilities, with the ability to learn adjacent engineering, data, planning, and lifecycle tools. Relevant tools may include: DOORS, Cameo, MATLAB, Jira, Spira, Xcelerator, Confluence, Git, GitLab, SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Milestones Professional, Open Plan, Deltek Cobra. * Exposure to digital engineering, configuration-controlled data, or traceable evidence used to support technical reviews and decisions. * Experience supporting customer, test, release, or mission-readiness activities in which technical accuracy and timely escalation affect delivery outcomes. ## Description As a Level 2 Systems Engineer, you will support one assigned CIS function as an individual technical contributor. You will execute defined work products, maintain accurate and traceable evidence, coordinate with adjacent teams, and escalate issues beyond your scope. You are responsible for work quality and currency within priorities, standards, and decision authority established by the function lead., * Maintain assigned elements of the technical baseline, including scope, schedule, capability content, and accomplishment criteria. * Map program dependencies with owners, need dates, and verified status; support integration and verification planning backward from culminating events. * Apply the common deficiency taxonomy across hardware, firmware, software, cyber, requirements, tooling, and documentation; support impact assessment and resolution tracking. * Assemble release-readiness evidence, including verification status, deficiency disposition, limitations, and watch items. * Validate and reconcile portfolio data from authoritative systems; produce traceable health assessments, leading indicators, and dashboards integrating capability, cost, schedule, risk, and readiness. * Prepare analysis for technical interchange, roadmap, anomaly, release-readiness, and program management reviews using common data. Each position focuses on one of four technical tracks based on expertise and team needs. Depth in one track is required; experience across multiple tracks is valued. What You Will Be Doing Track A - Capability Architecture & Integration Planning (TRM, FIP, CIM) Translate mission capabilities into executable system and integration architectures through functional decomposition, technical roadmaps, interface definition, dependency mapping, and integration planning. Apply MBSE methods such as DoDAF, UAF, or SysML to connect operational needs, requirements, system functions, design decisions, and verification evidence. Track B - Technical Integrity & Release Readiness (ARM, CRM) Turn technical requirements into verified, integrated, and releasable capability. Apply requirements analysis, interface management, verification/validation planning, integration sequencing, technical performance assessment, and anomaly resolution. Establish objective evidence and readiness criteria for sound, transparent, and repeatable release decisions. Track C - Data Engineering & Architecture (IDM) Build and operate data pipelines and common data models across heterogeneous sources. Apply SQL and a general-purpose language, preferably Python, for ingestion, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and orchestration. Apply data quality, schema, lineage, and access controls to investigate incorrect values at their source. Track D - Data Analysis & Decision Metrics (IDM) Turn integrated data into decision intelligence through precise metric definitions, calculation logic, health assessments, leading indicators, trend analysis, and decision-focused dashboards. Apply SQL and tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Python. Define metrics so independent analysts produce consistent results. ## Related Videos - [Improving quality with Agentic AI with Rovo Dev and Xray](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2005-improving-quality-with-agentic-ai-with-rovo-dev-and-xray) - [How a Small Team Shrank a Microsoft Monorepo by 94%](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1236-how-a-small-team-shrank-a-microsoft-monorepo-by-94) - [Security Pitfalls for Software Engineers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/726-security-pitfalls-for-software-engineers) - [Collaboration Quantified: Lessons from Open Source Developer Networks](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1422-collaboration-quantified-lessons-from-open-source-developer-networks) - [Git for Code Reviews](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/429-git-for-code-reviews) - [You’re a great coder?
