* Proven experience architecting distributed systems (microservices, REST APIs, cloud-native solutions)
 * Strong hands-on expertise with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including migration strategies
 * Solid software engineering background (e.g. Java, Python) with Agile delivery experience
 * Financial services domain experience, ideally within payments, cards, or digital channels
 * Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
 * Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance business and technical trade-offs

Application Architect

Location: Knutsford (2-3 days onsite)

Contract Duration: Until 30 September 2026

No sponsorship offered.

Contractor eligibility: BPSS

Responsibilities

 * Design and deliver end-to-end architecture for modern digital applications
 * Define technology stacks, platforms, and integration patterns
 * Contribute to and influence the technology roadmap within your domain
 * Ensure adherence to architecture, security, and governance standards
 * Produce architecture artefacts and participate in governance forums
 * Partner with product and business teams to translate requirements into solutions
 * Provide technical leadership, mentoring teams and promoting best practices

Required Skills & Experience
