Foreign nationals must have a valid permanent resident card ("green card") or renewable work permit. ## Description The New York City Independent Budget Office (IBO), a nonpartisan, independent agency that provides data driven fiscal and policy insights into New York City's budget, economy, and operations, is seeking an analytical, self-motivated Data Manager to join our agency. Under the direction of the Assistant Director for Data Acquisition and Governance, the Data Manager will help oversee IBO's data life cycle - from ingestion and cleaning to analysis, compliance, and quality assurance - ensuring that public reports and research are grounded in rigorous, high-quality data. Key Responsibilities: * + Identify, source, and import data from internal and external sources. + Participate in development and documentation of standardized data collection and intake processes. + Coordinate with researchers and external partners to obtain required datasets. + Clean, validate, and standardize datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency. + Manage multiple projects simultaneously. + Research Support & Analytics: Conduct basic statistical modeling, and data validation to support policy analysts and researchers. + Rapid-Response Requests: Efficiently query and analyze datasets to help the team meet tight timelines for data requests from the media, government officials, and public. + Data Stewardship: Maintain organized data storage systems and databases, assist in management of access permissions and ensuring data is readily available to authorized users, create clear data dictionaries/documentation. + Public Outreach and Engagement: Participate effectively in team-based efforts to convey complex data and analytical content clearly for a wide range of audiences. + Ensure data handling complies with relevant agreements and regulations, maintain documentation for audits and agreements, monitor and enforce data security, privacy, and confidentiality standards.
