This role is responsible for the safe operation, preventive maintenance, corrective repair, modification, and installation of mechanical systems that protect uptime, equipment reliability, and environmental stability. This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You will work across chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, in-row cooling systems, cooling towers, pumps, valves, compressors, and associated controls to ensure cooling systems operate within design parameters and support reliable 24x7 operations. You will also support maintenance execution, vendor coordination, incident response, documentation, and system readiness while helping maintain high standards for safety, compliance, and operational discipline. Be the mechanical expert behind mission-critical cooling and environmental reliability. Shifts: 2nd Shift: Wednesday - Saturday 2pm-12am What You Do Daily * Operate, inspect, maintain, repair, and modify critical cooling and refrigeration systems across the data center environment * Perform preventive maintenance and minor corrective adjustments on HVAC and mechanical systems in accordance with site standards and manufacturer requirements * Diagnose mechanical failures and perform corrective repairs to restore safe, stable cooling performance * Support mechanical upgrades, installations, and approved infrastructure changes while ensuring proper integration with existing systems * Monitor equipment condition, mechanical performance, and environmental trends to identify developing risks or degradation early * Provide technical oversight and coordination during vendor-performed maintenance and mechanical service activities * Document maintenance activities, equipment condition, and technical findings with accuracy and discipline * Maintain readiness of HVAC tools, commonly used spare parts, and mechanical work areas to support safe and effective execution * Provide mechanical technical support during incidents, audits, maintenance windows, and cross-functional activities within authorized scope, * Acts as the mechanical subject matter expert for site cooling and refrigeration systems * Leads by example in safety, technical discipline, and adherence to standards * Brings calm, practical troubleshooting during mechanical events and equipment failures * Maintains a high bar for workmanship, system care, and documentation quality * Works well with Infrastructure leadership, vendors, and cross-functional teams while staying clearly within mechanical scope What Success Looks Like * Cooling and refrigeration systems operate safely, reliably, and within defined performance parameters * Preventive maintenance is executed consistently, and developing issues are identified before they become outages * Mechanical failures are diagnosed accurately and repaired with lasting solutions * Vendor work is well-controlled, technically sound, and aligned with site standards * Documentation is accurate, timely, and useful for maintenance planning, audits, and operational decision-making * Mechanical spaces and work areas remain organized, safe, and ready to support critical operations, NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
