The position provides Tier 3 administration and engineering support across physical, virtual, and cloud-based environments, including Windows and Linux servers, VMware infrastructure, Active Directory, AWS services, databases, storage, backup/recovery systems, and associated enterprise applications. The Tier 3 System Administrator Lead performs advanced troubleshooting, system maintenance, patching, configuration, recovery, and technical escalation while coordinating closely with Museum IT personnel, security personnel, vendors, and other Contractor support teams. This position is 100% onsite. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following: * Maintain end-to-end operational integrity of Museum physical, virtual, and cloud-based servers. * Serve as the senior Tier 3 escalation point for complex server, operating system, Active Directory, storage, backup, cloud, and application infrastructure incidents. * Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server and Linux environments. * Perform advanced command-line troubleshooting and develop or maintain shell scripts to automate administrative and operational activities. * Monitor server availability, capacity, storage utilization, operating system health, memory utilization, critical services, and overall performance. * Perform operating system patching, firmware and BIOS updates, hardware maintenance, and critical-service restart and validation. * Perform security vulnerability remediation in accordance with Museum and security-team guidance. * Manage SSL certificate renewals and other system-level certificate requirements. * Administer VMware environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter-managed virtual infrastructure. * Support server deployment across physical, virtual, and AWS cloud environments. * Build, maintain, test, and deploy standardized Windows and Linux server images consistent with the Museum's Standard Operating Environment. * Perform security hardening and ensure systems comply with Museum-approved baselines prior to deployment. * Administer Active Directory infrastructure, including domain controller health, eplication, SYSVOL integrity, DNS/SRV records, FSMO roles, and directory-services availability. * Support Group Policy development, maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization, and auditing. * Support administrative, service, and resource account lifecycle management in accordance with approved procedures. * Perform AWS operational administration, including EC2 instance lifecycle management, S3 administration, Route 53, VPC routing, CloudWatch monitoring, Lambda troubleshooting, and approved IAM activities. * Monitor system performance and proactively remediate resource bottlenecks. * Support Microsoft SQL, MySQL, Oracle, and application server environments as required. * Provide technical support for third-party hosted applications and vendor-supported systems. * Perform OS-level patching and hardening for application servers and coordinate vendor updates. * Manage and troubleshoot middleware and web services such as IIS, Apache, or JBoss as applicable. * Maintainaccurate system configurations, deployment records, asset information, operating procedures, and technical documentation. ## Related Videos - [10M Data Records Lost, Underwater Computing, and Psychedelic Fish - Matthias Geniar](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1908-10m-data-records-lost-underwater-computing-and-psychedelic-fish-matthias-geniar) - [Docker network without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1418-docker-network-without-docker) - [MySQL Protocol Features You Should Be Aware Of](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100267-mysql-protocol-features-you-should-be-aware-of) - [Hacking MSSQL on Cloud.
