Working with us means being part of a team that is harnessing technology and creativity to disrupt a traditional industry. We are not your average workplace. We are seeking a Senior Network Architect to design, build and secure the networking, communications, and data pathways that underpin our USV and AUV systems. This is a hybrid role combining: * Systems engineering (requirements, architecture, integration) * Network & comms engineering (routing, radios, RF, protocols, data links) * Network security considerations You will ensure reliable, secure, high-performance data communication between autonomous platforms, motherships, remote operators, cloud infrastructure, and onboard sensors. This role is ideal for someone keen to deliver secure, reliable complex networks in challenging marine environments. What you will be doing * Act as Subject Matter Expert for network architecture. * Architect, design and document the end-to-end communications architecture for USVs and AUVs (radio, satellite, cellular, mesh, Wi-Fi, acoustic systems). * Define and maintain IP architectures, VLANs, firewall rules, QoS, bandwidth allocation, and encryption schemes. * Produce communications system requirements, ICDs, test plans, and verification documentation (lean and pragmatic). * Conduct trade studies for new comms technologies (e.g., new satcom services, mesh systems, acoustic modems). * Work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, and autonomy engineers to ensure seamless integration. * Provide technical expertise to operations and project teams. * Help design tailored communication solutions for specific customer missions or environments. * Ensure network architectures can meet security requirements for specific customer missions and environments. ## Related Videos - [How Cisco embraced a DevOps culture within its network engineering team](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/99-how-cisco-embraced-a-devops-culture-within-its-network-engineering-team) - [Unlocking the potential of Digital & IT at Vodafone](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/602-unlocking-the-potential-of-digital-it-at-vodafone) - [What makes Cybersecurity different for critical infrastructure?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/571-what-makes-cybersecurity-different-for-critical-infrastructure) - [Computer Vision from the Edge to the Cloud done easy](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/263-computer-vision-from-the-edge-to-the-cloud-done-easy) - [Your Infrastructure Is Not a Playground: AI Agents for Infra Done Right](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2084-your-infrastructure-is-not-a-playground-ai-agents-for-infra-done-right) - [Remote Driving on Plant Grounds with State-of-the-Art Cloud Technologies](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/251-remote-driving-on-plant-grounds-with-state-of-the-art-cloud-technologies) ## Related Articles - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated) - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [UK Business Culture and Etiquette](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/326-uk-business-culture-and-etiquette) - [Dev Digest 134 - Where pixels sing?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/477-dev-digest-134-where-pixels-sing) - [IT Salaries in UK](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/288-it-salaries-in-uk) - [Basic And Advanced Networking in Dart and Flutter](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/112-basic-and-advanced-networking-in-dart-and-flutter)
