## About the Role

* Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
 * Proficiency with Bash, Python, or a UNIX oriented scripting language (particularly with a focus on automation)
 * Minimum of 6 years of systems administration experience in a small to medium sized business's IT team
 * Experience working in a Linux environment as a system administrator
 * Familiarity with basic networking (IP addresses, routing, firewalls)
 * Familiarity with configuration management tools
 * Must have a US Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance, * Master's degree in computer science or related field
 * 10 years of systems administration experience
 * Experience in Ansible
 * CompTIA Linux+ Certification
 * Experience working in an Enterprise Linux environment with any distribution
 * Experience with LUKS encryption and LVM management at scale
 * SELinux or AppArmor Endpoint Management
 * Containerization experience with Docker or equivalent a huge plus
 * Server Endpoint Automation and Deployment with Kubernetes or equivalent
 * CompTIA Server+ Certification
 * Red Hat Certified Engineer Certification

## Description

Persistent Systems is looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to join our team at our headquarters in NYC. The Linux Systems Administrator will play a critical role in ensuring our Linux servers and systems are configured and running optimally. This individual will solve complex database problems and play a critical role in the overall success of the organization. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals that enjoy working in a collaborative environment and enjoy making a difference., * Design and manage the installation, configuration and maintenance of Linux servers and workstations

 * Provide technical support for computer network issues
 * Collaborate with others to resolve information technology issues
 * Design integrated computer systems
 * Test computer hardware performance
 * Test software performance
 * Document operational activities
 * Install computer hardware
 * Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage in accordance with best practices.
 * Perform system monitoring, integrity verification, and availability of hardware, server resources, and key processes
 * Perform regular security monitoring to identify any intrusions
 * Create, execute, and maintain data backup plan
 * Ensure all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media
 * Create, change, and or delete user accounts as required
 * Responsible for hardware/software asset management and deployment for new and existing employees
 * Provide help desk support and resolve issues for end-users
