Nice-to-have * Experience with Apache Airflow for workflow/pipeline orchestration. * Experience with AI agents or agentic systems. * Regular use of AI as part of your own development workflow (Cursor, Claude Code) - not just code generation, but critical review and validation of generated code. * Prior experience in energy or industrial sector projects. ## Description We're looking for a Backend Developer Python to build and evolve the internal platform that supports the AI team of a leading client in the renewable energy sector. It's an event-driven platform that needs to handle variable load, recover from failures without manual intervention, and scale at the pace demanded by a fast-growing AI team. What you'll do * Design, build, and maintain Python backend services within an event-driven architecture. * Design and manage queues and consumers (RabbitMQ): load balancing across consumers, retry and failure-recovery strategies, handling messages that can't be processed. * Containerize services with Docker and take part in deployment infrastructure decisions. * Work directly alongside the platform's AI team, understanding their consumption needs and integrating their work into the backend. * Contribute to architecture decisions: integrations between microservices, dependency management, and packaging. ## Related Videos - [Intro to FastAPI](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/462-intro-to-fastapi) - [Inside Bitpanda's Tech Stack: Scaling a European Fintech Leader - Markus Dorner](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1979-inside-bitpanda-s-tech-stack-scaling-a-european-fintech-leader-markus-dorner) - [From Messy Queries to Scalable Systems - How Data Engineering actually works](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100203-from-messy-queries-to-scalable-systems-how-data-engineering-actually-works) - [Docker Compose: Rediscovered](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1978-docker-compose-rediscovered) - [Multilingual NLP pipeline up and running from scratch](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/901-multilingual-nlp-pipeline-up-and-running-from-scratch) - [Enjoying SQL data pipelines with dbt](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/823-enjoying-sql-data-pipelines-with-dbt) ## Related Articles - [The 7 Most Popular Backend Frameworks for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/403-the-7-most-popular-backend-frameworks-for-developers) - [20 Essential Tools For Backend Development](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/218-20-essential-tools-for-backend-development) - [The 13 Best Python Libraries for Developers in 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/371-the-13-best-python-libraries-for-developers-in-2025) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [Why Upskilling And Reskilling is Important For Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/428-why-upskilling-and-reskilling-is-important-for-developers) - [What’s the Difference Between Frontend and Backend Development?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/240-what-s-the-difference-between-frontend-and-backend-development)
