If you're a strong backend engineer with experience in another language (e.g. Node, Python, Java, PHP, Go), we'd love to hear from you: we'll support you in picking up Rails. (Our Platform Senior Software Engineer and Principal Software Engineer roles are the exception and do require hands-on Ruby/Rails experience.), * Take-home task or pair coding exercise ## Description We're organised into three squads: Pitchside Experience, Clubhouse Experience and Platform. This role sits in Pitchside Experience: the squad focused on what happens matchday: team sheets, live updates and the tools coaches, players, parents use on the day. Our engineers come from a variety of different backgrounds. As long as you enjoy learning new things, we'd love to talk to you: we do not ask for formal qualifications or degree requirements for any of our engineering roles. Your day-to-day * Own a Pitchside Experience feature end-to-end, from spec through rollout, with light oversight. * Write solid, well-tested code across our React Native app and web front end. * Debug your own issues effectively, and consider performance and error handling as you go. * Actively help peers, give constructive code reviews, and share context in stand-ups and docs., * We're moving to React for our web front end, but we're currently using Rails with Turbo, Hotwire and Stimulus * Ruby on Rails to write our API layer (there's a highly recommended Rails tutorial here) * Postgres for our database layer * Stripe to power payments: membership fees, club shop and fundraising all run through it * Currently our infrastructure is on Heroku, but we'll be moving off this soon: join us and help shape where ## Related Videos - [Navigating Growth, Scaling Challenges, and Office Expansions with David Singleton, CTO at Stripe](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100362-navigating-growth-scaling-challenges-and-office-expansions-with-david-singleton-cto-at-stripe) - [Coffee with Developers: David Heinemeier Hansson](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/875-coffee-with-developers-david-heinemeier-hansson) - [Go with the Flow: Stop the Leaks Before Your Memory's a Waterfall!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100073-go-with-the-flow-stop-the-leaks-before-your-memory-s-a-waterfall) - [Build and Deploy a Fullstack App with Open Source Tooling](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/775-build-and-deploy-a-fullstack-app-with-open-source-tooling) - [Build Your Own Subscription-based Course Platform](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/321-build-your-own-subscription-based-course-platform) - [Scoring 2000 Products per Request: Performance Pitfalls in Golang](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2073-scoring-2000-products-per-request-performance-pitfalls-in-golang) ## Related Articles - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [The 12 Best Jobs for Software Engineers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/401-the-12-best-jobs-for-software-engineers) - [Software Engineer Salary London](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/252-software-engineer-salary-london) - [The 7 Most Popular Backend Frameworks for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/403-the-7-most-popular-backend-frameworks-for-developers) - [Frontend Developer Salary in The UK](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/233-frontend-developer-salary-in-the-uk) - [Where to Find Entry-Level Software Engineering Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/397-where-to-find-entry-level-software-engineering-jobs)
