You'll work with our architecture team to turn high-level platform goals into a complete, verifiable set of hardware requirements. Then you'll deliver those requirements to the teams responsible for each piece: custom PCBs, rack enclosures, power delivery and energy storage, networking, data storage, mechanical systems, firmware, and software. You won't build each of those pieces, but you'll know each domain well enough to write requirements they can actually build to, catch problems at boundaries before they become integration surprises, and get every team aligned on what the system needs. Our platforms integrate custom, semi-custom, and off-the-shelf hardware across multiple programs running in parallel. Requirements take shape during the architecture and high-level design process, and one of the most important things this role does is pull that work as early as possible. A requirement discovered during detailed design is expensive, and one discovered during validation testing is far more disruptive. Your job is to lead the requirements process at the system level from the very start: make decisions, document them with enough rigor that a sustaining team can depend on them years from now, and keep the whole picture in focus while everyone else is heads-down in their domain. The right person for this role has done it before, though not necessarily in a datacenter. We'd rather hire someone who has already lived through a fundamental shift in what a system needs to be. Fields like defense, aerospace, automotive, and industrial systems have been solving exactly this class of problem for decades. What we need is someone who can write a requirement that can be tested, own a room full of specialists and drive them to agreement, and see three moves ahead when a change in one sub-system creates a problem somewhere else. This is a role for someone who measures success in decisions that stick and hardware that ships. ## Related Videos - [Breaking the Hardware Mindset: Overcoming Barriers to System-Level Innovation](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1635-breaking-the-hardware-mindset-overcoming-barriers-to-system-level-innovation) - [Playing Pong on a shoulder press machine](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100140-playing-pong-on-a-shoulder-press-machine) - [10M Data Records Lost, Underwater Computing, and Psychedelic Fish - Matthias Geniar](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1908-10m-data-records-lost-underwater-computing-and-psychedelic-fish-matthias-geniar) - [Building a hypercar from scratch](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/607-building-a-hypercar-from-scratch) - [Agent Smith Gets Hardware: Autonomous IoT Hacking From Debug Port to Cloud API](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100258-agent-smith-gets-hardware-autonomous-iot-hacking-from-debug-port-to-cloud-api) - [Develop on Windows, Deploy on Red Hat Enterprise Linux](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1600-develop-on-windows-deploy-on-red-hat-enterprise-linux) ## Related Articles - [What Makes WeAreDevelopers World Congress Different From Every Other Tech Event?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/701-what-makes-wearedevelopers-world-congress-different-from-every-other-tech-event) - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [Why Attend a Developer Event in 2026?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/688-why-attend-a-developer-event-in-2026) - [Top Must-Visit Developer Conferences in the US in 2026](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/679-top-must-visit-developer-conferences-in-the-us-in-2026) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers)
