The work is on site in Brunssum, in normal office hours, with occasional planned night work when a change window demands it and roughly one trip a month to other European locations. ## Description Deployable communications are the part of an alliance nobody sees until they fail. This role sits at third line behind one of those systems: the core services layer - virtualisation, directory, mail, name resolution, endpoint management and backup - that everything else on the mission network depends on. It is hands-on engineering rather than ticket triage. You would be configuring, integrating and validating the kit before it deploys, keeping it healthy once it does, and writing the documentation that lets the next engineer pick it up cold. What you would be doing * Build, configure and validate the core services layer of deployable communications kits, and prepare them for operational handover. * Run the VMware estate day to day - vSphere, ESXi, vSAN, NSX, update services - and the storage and backup that sit under it. * Administer the Microsoft core: Active Directory and domain trusts, Exchange, DNS, group policy, software distribution and endpoint protection. * Take third-line incidents and changes through to closure, with proper root-cause analysis rather than a restart. * Keep the technical documentation, procedures and configuration records accurate and auditable. * Report monthly on service performance against the agreed measures. ## Related Videos - [WebAssembly: The Next Frontier of Cloud Computing](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/972-webassembly-the-next-frontier-of-cloud-computing) - [The Journey of a Pixel in a React Application](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1667-the-journey-of-a-pixel-in-a-react-application) - [Navigating the Corporate Jungle: Life as a Developer in a large Company](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/621-navigating-the-corporate-jungle-life-as-a-developer-in-a-large-company) - [Generating code with Angular schematics](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/129-generating-code-with-angular-schematics) - [Unlocking the potential of Digital & IT at Vodafone](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/602-unlocking-the-potential-of-digital-it-at-vodafone) - [Operating etcd for Managed Kubernetes](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1191-operating-etcd-for-managed-kubernetes) ## Related Articles - [Best Companies in the Netherlands: Top 25 Companies in 2023 ](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/193-best-companies-in-the-netherlands-top-25-companies-in-2023) - [How to land a developer job in Amsterdam](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/36-how-to-land-a-developer-job-in-amsterdam) - [The Netherlands – Europe’s powerhouse for software development?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/31-the-netherlands-europe-s-powerhouse-for-software-development) - [Where to Find Entry-Level Software Engineering Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/397-where-to-find-entry-level-software-engineering-jobs) - [How to Find Tech Jobs in Amsterdam](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/279-how-to-find-tech-jobs-in-amsterdam) - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs)
