## About the Role

* Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Communications Engineering or a related field.
 * Minimum 5 years of professional experience in distributed systems, network engineering or security engineering.
 * Strong depth in at least one of the following, with working knowledge of the other: distributed systems and middleware (pub/sub, serialization, consensus, state synchronization), or applied security (cryptographic protocols, decentralized identity, key exchange, certificate lifecycle management).
 * Advanced proficiency in C, C++ or Rust.
 * Experience with Linux and embedded or resource-constrained environments.
 * Strong analytical and systems engineering mindset.
 * Excellent communication skills in English; German language skills are a plus.

Nice to Have

 * Conflict-free replicated data types (CRDTs) or comparable eventually-consistent data structures
 * Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus protocols
 * Noise protocol framework or comparable secure channel handshake design
 * Hardware-backed security, such as secure boot, HSM or TPM
 * Software-defined networking (SDN) controllers and policy engines
 * Configuration management protocols and toolchains, such as NETCONF/YANG or gNMI
 * Familiarity with IETF, IEEE or NATO STANAG communication standards, particularly in defense or dual-use contexts

## Description

You will build the control plane that distributes configuration and policy across the swarm, the pub/sub and
state-synchronization layer that keeps distributed data eventually consistent across network partitions, and the
zero-trust security model, including decentralized identity, key exchange and certificate lifecycle, that lets nodes
verify and authenticate each other in the field.

Your work is what turns a collection of individually secure nodes into a network that can be configured,
observed and trusted as a whole, even when it is fragmented for hours at a time.
