You can reason about distributed systems, execution models, and reliability/scalability trade-offs, and hold your own in an architecture discussion. You're at home with non-functional requirements, where the details are the product. * Complex delivery track record: You've led cross-team technical initiatives with real delivery risk, ideally including a migration or breaking change. * Prioritization under ambiguity: You make trade-offs explicit and connect foundational or technical-debt work to customer and commercial outcomes. * Ownership and autonomy: You grab problems without being asked, fix what you see broken, and drive outcomes without waiting for direction. * Exceptional communication: You make complex platform topics understandable for technical and non-technical audiences alike. * Enterprise platform reality: You understand what running software in customer-controlled environments means, including self-hosted, air-gapped, and restricted deployments Nice-to-haves * Hands-on ability: You can read code or prototype, even if you're not shipping it. * Enterprise exposure: You've worked with B2B SaaS requirements like security, compliance, or deployment complexity. * Security partnership: You're comfortable working with security teams on code execution, isolation, or compliance topics. * Domain familiarity: You know workflow automation, orchestration, or open-source / developer-community products. * Writing culture: You default to writing things down to create clarity and alignment. n8n is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. Our company language is English. ## Description Your main goal will be to make n8n's Core Platform ready for the company's next stage of growth: more scalable, reliable, secure, and flexible as customer usage and technical complexity increase. You'll own the foundations that everything else, including our AI and agent capabilities, is built on. To do so, here are your responsibilities: OWN THE CORE PLATFORM STRATEGY & ROADMAP * Define and communicate the product strategy and roadmap for the Core Platform in partnership with Engineering and Product leadership. * Prioritize foundational investments based on customer impact, enterprise needs, technical risk, and engineering effort, and make trade-offs between near-term customer needs, technical debt, and long-term architecture explicit. * Lead product discovery for technically complex problems, engaging directly with enterprise customers and internal customer-facing teams. SCALABILITY, RELIABILITY & EXECUTION ENGINE * Drive work on the scalability and reliability of n8n's execution engine, including areas like worker pools and distributed execution. * Improve the reliability of triggers and execution behaviour across complex deployment setups, from multi-main Cloud environments to self-hosted enterprise installations. * Shape a more secure and flexible approach to executing code within n8n. MAJOR RELEASES & CROSS-ORG ALIGNMENT * Drive the planning and release of major or breaking platform versions, including migration strategy, stakeholder communication, and risk management. * Establish clear success measures and keep the squad accountable for outcomes, not only delivery. * Act as the bridge between the Core team and the wider org: Product, Sales, Solutions Engineering, Customer Success, and Support, making platform trade-offs legible without oversimplifying them. * Treat internal product teams as customers of the platform: proactively mine their roadmaps for implicit platform requirements and turn cross-cutting needs into explicit Core Platform work before they become blockers. ## Related Videos - [Developing the Backend with Stefan Lingler, CTO at Shpock](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100360-developing-the-backend-with-stefan-lingler-cto-at-shpock) - [Resolving technical debts in software architecture](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1680-resolving-technical-debts-in-software-architecture) - [From APIs to MCP: Enterprise Governance, Registry, and Controls](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100336-from-apis-to-mcp-enterprise-governance-registry-and-controls) - [Stop Renaming Teams, Start Product Thinking: A PM's Guide to Platform-as-a-Product](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100342-stop-renaming-teams-start-product-thinking-a-pm-s-guide-to-platform-as-a-product) - [Nest.js - TypeScript in the backend can also be clean](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1033-nest-js-typescript-in-the-backend-can-also-be-clean) - [Platform Engineering vs. DevOps Why not both?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/885-platform-engineering-vs-devops-why-not-both) ## Related Articles - [Finding Jobs in Germany](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/375-finding-jobs-in-germany) - [The Biggest German Tech Companies](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/424-the-biggest-german-tech-companies) - [Where to Find German Tech Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/366-where-to-find-german-tech-jobs) - [Where To Find Software Engineering Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/396-where-to-find-software-engineering-jobs) - [Find a Developer Job: 12 Best Job Sites For Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/165-find-a-developer-job-12-best-job-sites-for-developers) - [How to Find Tech Jobs in Berlin](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/291-how-to-find-tech-jobs-in-berlin)
