This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work on challenging real-world networks, lead advanced troubleshooting efforts, and help shape the technical direction of our infrastructure. You will be part of a highly collaborative engineering team responsible for building and supporting networks that serve a growing customer base. This role offers the opportunity to work deeply with BGP driven WAN architectures, Fortinet and Cisco platforms, and multi-site routing environments while mentoring other engineers and influencing engineering standards across the organization. If you enjoy digging into routing tables, analyzing packet flows, and solving problems others cannot, this role will give you the space and autonomy to do that work. We are also big believers in teamwork and shared support, so you will be working alongside other engineers who collaborate closely, help each other solve tough problems, and take collective ownership of the network. What Makes This Role Different This position is more than just another senior engineering role. As an Architect, you will help shape how our networks are designed and operated. You will: * Review and guide major network architecture decisions * Lead troubleshooting during critical outages * Establish engineering standards and best practices * Mentor engineers and help grow the team's technical depth * Influence technical strategy and vendor platform decisions Your expertise will directly impact how our network evolves as we continue to scale, supporting the connectivity that enables K-12 schools to deliver education to students every day. Primary Responsibilities * Design and implement complex Layer 3 network architectures * Engineer and troubleshoot BGP based WAN and multi-site routing environments * Perform advanced configuration and troubleshooting using CLI on Fortinet FortiGate and Cisco platforms * Architect routing strategies involving: + Route redistribution + Route filtering and prefix lists + AS path prepending and local preference + BGP communities and traffic engineering + ECMP and multipath routing * Diagnose protocol and packet level issues * Design high availability network architectures that maintain service continuity * Troubleshoot traffic flow issues involving routing and firewall policy interactions * Lead technical response during high severity incidents * Produce clear documentation and network diagrams to support engineering operations * Mentor engineers and help elevate the overall technical capabilities of the team ## Related Videos - [How Cisco embraced a DevOps culture within its network engineering team](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/99-how-cisco-embraced-a-devops-culture-within-its-network-engineering-team) - [An Applied Introduction to eBPF with Go](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1075-an-applied-introduction-to-ebpf-with-go) - [Small, Secure, Interconnected: The next Internet Protocol](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100062-small-secure-interconnected-the-next-internet-protocol) - [Creating a routing app with Google Maps API from scratch](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/831-creating-a-routing-app-with-google-maps-api-from-scratch) - [Your Infrastructure Is Not a Playground: AI Agents for Infra Done Right](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2084-your-infrastructure-is-not-a-playground-ai-agents-for-infra-done-right) - [Computer Vision from the Edge to the Cloud done easy](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/263-computer-vision-from-the-edge-to-the-cloud-done-easy) ## Related Articles - [Basic And Advanced Networking in Dart and Flutter](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/112-basic-and-advanced-networking-in-dart-and-flutter) - [What Are The Top Skills Required For Azure Developers?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/77-what-are-the-top-skills-required-for-azure-developers) - [Best Coding Boot Camps in Germany](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/237-best-coding-boot-camps-in-germany) - [7 Important Tips That Every Software Developer Should Know](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/101-7-important-tips-that-every-software-developer-should-know) - [Best US AI Conferences for CTOs in 2026: Build vs. Buy, Vendor Evaluation, and Peer Intelligence](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/736-best-us-ai-conferences-for-ctos-in-2026-build-vs-buy-vendor-evaluation-and-peer-intelligence) - [Everything a Developer Needs to Know About MCP with Neo4j](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/604-everything-a-developer-needs-to-know-about-mcp-with-neo4j)
