This includes not only building the application internals (managing and syncing local and remote state, performing cryptographic operations, etc) but also helping us to build resilient, scalable applications (graceful degradation; log and metrics streams free of personally identifiable information). You will be involved in the entire application lifecycle, but with a strong focus on the internals shared amongst our desktop applications, including Gitlab configuration, deployments, monitoring and alerting, and operational incident response. While this position is not a "full-stack" position, you will be expected to collaborate with backend engineers to drive any necessary changes and/or new features needed for the core of our desktop experience. What you will do: * Be part of a small team working to bring a "privacy by default" solution to our Drive clients on Windows, macOS and Linux. * Develop applications that delight a wide range of users, from layperson to technical, and gives confidence that their online privacy is in good hands - while getting the complexity of end-to-end encryption out of the way. * Invest in test automation to improve the team's productivity and software delivery cadence. * Think critically on how to divide problems into iterations of simpler, composable solutions. Re-evaluate the minimum scope as necessary to meet objectives on-time. * Insist on high standards for application monitoring and alerting, in order to ensure a smooth customer experience at all times. ## Related Videos - [How a Small Team Shrank a Microsoft Monorepo by 94%](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1236-how-a-small-team-shrank-a-microsoft-monorepo-by-94) - [Docker network without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1418-docker-network-without-docker) - [WeAreDevelopers LIVE - Modern DevOps for IoT Devices and More](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1805-wearedevelopers-live-modern-devops-for-iot-devices-and-more) - [Navigating the Corporate Jungle: Life as a Developer in a large Company](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/621-navigating-the-corporate-jungle-life-as-a-developer-in-a-large-company) - [Discover the open source trio you didn’t expect: .NET and PostgreSQL on Linux](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2042-discover-the-open-source-trio-you-didn-t-expect-net-and-postgresql-on-linux) - [Git for Code Reviews](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/429-git-for-code-reviews) ## Related Articles - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [Software Engineer Salary London](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/252-software-engineer-salary-london) - [The Most Popular IT Jobs on the Market](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/376-the-most-popular-it-jobs-on-the-market)
