They're looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with strong hands-on experience across VMware / Omnissa Horizon, VDI and enterprise endpoint environments. This isn't a generic Infrastructure Engineer position and it isn't a pure Security Engineer role either. The real focus is somebody who understands how to own, support, improve and secure a large-scale Horizon / VDI environment, alongside thin-client and managed endpoint estates. What you'll be working with You'll take responsibility across areas including: * Omnissa Horizon / VMware Horizon VDI * Horizon Connection Servers * Unified Access Gateway (UAG) * Instant Clones * App Volumes * Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM) * Desktop pools and image lifecycle management * VMware vSphere / ESXi * Thin-client estates across multiple UK locations * Windows endpoint / laptop management * Active Directory and Group Policy * Patching, hardening and vulnerability remediation * Infrastructure monitoring and operational support * Security controls within highly regulated environments * Automation and scripting where appropriate * You'll also work closely with wider infrastructure, networking and security teams to ensure the environment remains secure, resilient and properly maintained. What I'm looking for Ideally you'll have strong commercial experience across: * VMware / Omnissa Horizon * Enterprise VDI environments * VMware vSphere / virtualisation * Thin-client or EUC environments * Windows infrastructure * Active Directory / Group Policy * Endpoint management, patching and hardening * Troubleshooting complex infrastructure environments * Experience with technologies such as IGEL, Dell Wyse, 10ZiG, Intune, SCCM / MECM, Workspace ONE or PowerShell would also be useful. * You do not need to tick every single box. * What matters is that you have strong infrastructure fundamentals and genuine hands-on depth across the core Horizon / VDI environment. Security Clearance Current SC clearance is strongly preferred, and you must be willing to undergo DV clearance where required. However, I'm also happy to speak with technically exceptional candidates who do not currently hold clearance but who are eligible and willing to undergo UK security vetting. Naturally, where somebody is not already cleared, I'll be looking for particularly strong alignment across the technical requirement. ## Related Videos - [Unlocking the potential of Digital & IT at Vodafone](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/602-unlocking-the-potential-of-digital-it-at-vodafone) - [WebAssembly: The Next Frontier of Cloud Computing](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/972-webassembly-the-next-frontier-of-cloud-computing) - [The Road to One Billion Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1137-the-road-to-one-billion-developers) - [Navigating the Corporate Jungle: Life as a Developer in a large Company](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/621-navigating-the-corporate-jungle-life-as-a-developer-in-a-large-company) - [Generating code with Angular schematics](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/129-generating-code-with-angular-schematics) - [Bringing the power of AI to your application.](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1010-bringing-the-power-of-ai-to-your-application) ## Related Articles - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [What Are The Top Skills Required For Azure Developers?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/77-what-are-the-top-skills-required-for-azure-developers) - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated) - [Where To Find Software Engineering Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/396-where-to-find-software-engineering-jobs) - [Data Engineer Salary UK](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/253-data-engineer-salary-uk) - [IT Salaries in UK](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/288-it-salaries-in-uk)
