Understanding of diverse, holistic needs of students and strategies for best meeting the needs of individuals and groups of students. Ability to relate to and effectively communicate with college students. Ability to help students navigate university systems, policies, and processes and to make effective referrals when necessary. Self-directed and able to work autonomously while also working effectively and collaboratively as a member of a team. Use of quantitative and qualitative data to inform decisions. Ability to interact with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, and outside constituents in a manner which positively reflects upon the advising office and the university.
