Your main responsibility will be to write, maintain, and deploy code for our vehicle-technologies such as telematics, sensor data, and system architectures. This will include both hands-on technical work as well as the guidance and supervision of external resources. To make this happen, you need to be a utility player who understands version control, defect management, documentation, and software best practices for production code deployment. You'll write software for both the truck and in the cloud, so you need to understand partitioning, offloading, and edge computing., * A bachelor's degree in computer science or another relevant field is required. * 7+ years of industry experience in software development, of which at least 3 years are in building and deploying production embedded software. * Adaptability and creativity with the ability to think outside of the box. * Interest in, passion for, or curiosity about trucks, automobiles, and technology. * Ability to self-direct, even in the face of ambiguity. * A collaborative attitude with a willingness to work in a small team environment. * A willingness to grow personally and professionally while utilizing new engineering processes and techniques to be resourceful in solving complex technical problems., * A master's degree is highly preferred. * Programming languages such as C, C++, Rust, and Java in the context of real-time operating systems and environments including Android, QNX, SOME/IP, and related technologies. * Experience partitioning and allocating processes into edge computing devices. * Software architecture, data structures, containerization, profiling, and optimization. * Enabling automotive technologies including sensors, computer vision, and signal processing. * Exposure to CAN, Ethernet, and wireless communication protocols. * Understanding of full stack development with JavaScript, Node.js and database management ## Description * Design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions for vehicle-connected technologies, both on edge devices (trucks) and cloud platforms. * Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following software best practices and coding standards. * Manage and maintain version control repositories using Git/GitHub, ensuring proper branching, merging, and release management. * Supervise and guide external development resources to ensure alignment with project goals and quality standards. * Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software design, development processes, and deployment procedures. * Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities to incorporate modern software practices into PACCAR's development workflows. * Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools to enhance team productivity and product quality. * Champion software quality by enforcing testing standards including unit, integration, and system testing. * Support deployment and monitoring of software in production environments and respond to operational issues as needed., At PACCAR, we value talent and promote growth and development. A reasonable salary range estimate for the Senior Software Engineer is $135,330 - $211,770, which is comprised of a 30% cost-of-living adjustment for California residency.
