The Peer Recovery Coach must demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships. The PRC will help people in recovery to improve their quality of life through connecting them to social, spiritual, and peer supports., * Help clients navigate recovery support systems and access resources including health and wellness, housing, employment, and other professional and non-professional services * Assist clients in developing an Individual Recovery Action Plan * Facilitate peer support groups * Provide recovery education to service recipients for every phase of the recovery journey from pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization and sustained recovery maintenance * Assist clients with applying for health insurance * Provide transportation assistance to and from aftercare treatment and support services * Assist clients in feeling connected to a Community of Recovery through pro-social, recreational and cultural activities in a sober environment * Actively identify and support linkages to community resources (communities of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, spiritual resources, mutual self-help groups, professional services, etc) that support the recovering person's goals and interests. This will involve a collaborative effort including the recovering person, agency staff and other relevant stakeholders * Share personal recovery experiences and demonstrates and models effective coping techniques and self-help strategies * Help clients to modify attitudes and patterns of behavior by increasing understanding of self, personal problems, and client's part in creating them * Support connections to community based, mutual self-help groups. Link individuals to appropriate professional resources when needed.
