This means more than uploading products. You should be comfortable taking ownership of the day-to-day store environment and improving how customers browse, understand and buy products. Ideally, you'll have: * Demonstrable, hands-on experience managing or materially improving a Shopify ecommerce store * Confidence working with products, collections, navigation, themes, sections and apps * A practical understanding of ecommerce, customer journeys and conversion * Examples of website improvements you have identified and delivered * The ability to investigate everyday website issues and recommend practical solutions * Commercial awareness and an interest in what drives revenue, conversion and customer retention * Strong attention to detail across product information, pricing and website content * The confidence to use data and customer behaviour to decide what to work on next * A proactive working style and the ability to complete work without continual prompting * Clear written communication and the ability to work closely with a hands-on Managing Director and small operational team Experience with email marketing, onsite SEO, analytics, content creation or basic Shopify development would be useful, but you don't need to be an expert in every area. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who enjoys getting involved, taking ownership of their area and helping improve things. ## Description We're looking for a hands-on Shopify & Ecommerce Executive to take day-to-day ownership of our online stores and help us improve how customers find, understand and buy our products. Shopify is at the heart of this role. You'll be responsible for keeping our stores accurate, commercially effective and moving forward, from product pages and collections to navigation, merchandising and customer journeys. This isn't a role where you'll wait for a daily list of instructions. You'll work directly with the Managing Director, agree the priorities and then take responsibility for investigating opportunities, recommending improvements and seeing work through. Alongside Shopify, you'll also contribute to email marketing, onsite SEO, website insight and product-led content. Our Google Ads are managed by an experienced external specialist, so you won't be expected to manage paid advertising day to day. You will work alongside them where improvements to product feeds, landing pages and the website experience can help improve overall performance. What You'll Be Doing Shopify & Ecommerce You'll take day-to-day ownership of our Shopify stores, including: * Improving product pages, collections, navigation and customer journeys * Managing products, pricing, imagery and website content * Building and improving landing pages for key products, campaigns and launches * Maintaining a clean, accurate and commercially effective product catalogue * Improving onsite search, filtering and merchandising * Working confidently with Shopify themes, sections and apps * Making straightforward theme or front-end changes within your capability * Identifying website issues and helping resolve them * Reviewing sales and conversion performance to identify practical opportunities * Supporting new product and brand launches * Working with our Google Ads specialist on product feeds, landing pages and conversion improvements You don't need to be a full-stack developer, but you should be very comfortable working within Shopify. Any additional experience with Liquid, HTML or CSS would be a strong advantage, but this it isn't essential. Email Marketing and Customer Journeys You'll help us develop email into a stronger sales and customer-retention channel. This could include: * Planning and creating commercially focused email campaigns * Building and improving automated customer journeys * Developing abandoned basket, post-purchase, replenishment and re-engagement flows * Growing and segmenting our customer database responsibly * Reviewing performance and testing subject lines, content, timing and offers We want email to become a consistent and useful part of our ecommerce activity, rather than something we use occasionally. SEO and Website Insight You'll support the ongoing development of our organic visibility and website performance through: * On-page SEO, including metadata and internal linking * Improving product and collection content * Using Google Analytics, Search Console and Microsoft Clarity to understand customer behaviour * Identifying where customers experience friction or leave the site * Turning data and insight into practical website improvements We're looking for someone who is interested in what the data is telling us and, more importantly, what we should do about it. Social Media and Content Social media and content are areas we would like to develop further, so there is an opportunity for someone who is excited by them to help shape our approach. This could include: * Creating useful content around our products, applications and projects * Capturing product demonstrations, how-to content and new launches * Producing simple product photography and short-form video * Writing and publishing organic social posts * Repurposing good content across the websites, email and social channels We're a practical and visual business, so we'd like someone who's happy to get involved with the products themselves and create content rather than only working from behind a desk. You don't need to arrive as a social media specialist. We are more interested in finding someone with good ideas, commercial instincts and the enthusiasm to help develop this area over time. ## Related Videos - [WeAreDevelopers LIVE - Markdown, Liquid and Checkouts](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1814-wearedevelopers-live-markdown-liquid-and-checkouts) - [Modern Headless Commerce with Vendure](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/489-modern-headless-commerce-with-vendure) - [Kubernetes and Microservices with Multi-Model Databases](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/382-kubernetes-and-microservices-with-multi-model-databases) - [The Resilience of the World Wide Web](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1281-the-resilience-of-the-world-wide-web) - [Teini - an extremely small webshop leveraging awesome and free tech](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/286-teini-an-extremely-small-webshop-leveraging-awesome-and-free-tech) - [NoLoJS - Avoiding JavaScript Cruft with HTML and CSS - Aaron T.
