Would you like to combine that knowledge with the breadth of AWS to design compelling migration paths - whether that's ODB@AWS, RDS for Oracle, Aurora PostgreSQL, or a lift-and-shift to EC2? As an Oracle Migration Specialist Solutions Architect within the AWS Worldwide Public Sector team, you will serve as the go-to technical authority on Oracle workload migrations. Operating as a specialist overlay alongside account Solutions Architects, Account Executives, and SI partners, you will own the full database conversation - from legacy Oracle estate assessment through target-state architecture design on AWS. You will conduct rapid discovery of complex Oracle environments (RAC, Data Guard, ASM, Exadata), synthesize AWR/ASH performance data into actionable migration recommendations, and deliver POCs and technical deep-dives that prove performance, compatibility, and cost efficiency. You will build TCO-based business cases that quantify savings versus Oracle's commercial objections, counter competitive FUD with architectural proof points, and unblock stalled deals caused by licensing confusion, technical ambiguity, or executive hesitation. This role requires equal credibility recommending ODB@AWS (Exadata within AWS data centers) or Aurora/RDS based on what is right for the customer. You will collaborate with Sales Specialists to qualify opportunities, shape multi-year consumption forecasts, and drive closure. You are not a migration delivery engineer - you design the architecture and win the deal. This position may require up to 30% travel Key job responsibilities Assessing complex Oracle estates and delivering actionable migration architecture recommendations tailored to workload profile, licensing posture, and business constraints Designing target-state architectures across ODB@AWS, RDS for Oracle, Aurora PostgreSQL, and EC2 - including consolidation strategies (PDB/CDB multi-tenancy, pod-based density planning) Building and presenting TCO business cases that quantify cost savings and counter Oracle retention tactics (ULA traps, audit exposure, OCI positioning) Delivering technical workshops, immersion days, and executive architecture sessions to accelerate deal velocity Partnering with account teams, Professional Services, and SI partners to translate migration opportunities into pipeline and consumption forecasts Modeling projected consumption for Private Pricing Agreements (PPAs) and strategic commitments Mentoring and enabling field SA teams on Oracle migration positioning, licensing nuances, and competitive messaging ## Related Videos - [Reliable scalability: How Amazon.com scales on AWS](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/983-reliable-scalability-how-amazon-com-scales-on-aws) - [Kubernetes and Microservices with Multi-Model Databases](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/382-kubernetes-and-microservices-with-multi-model-databases) - [Optimizing Discovery: PostgreSQL's Role in Transforming GetYourGuide's Search](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1647-optimizing-discovery-postgresql-s-role-in-transforming-getyourguide-s-search) - [PySpark - Combining Machine Learning & Big Data](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/44-pyspark-combining-machine-learning-big-data) - [Building Systems that Last](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1389-building-systems-that-last) - [Discover the open source trio you didn’t expect: .NET and PostgreSQL on Linux](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2042-discover-the-open-source-trio-you-didn-t-expect-net-and-postgresql-on-linux) ## Related Articles - [What Are The Top Skills Required For Azure Developers?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/77-what-are-the-top-skills-required-for-azure-developers) - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [What Makes WeAreDevelopers World Congress Different From Every Other Tech Event?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/701-what-makes-wearedevelopers-world-congress-different-from-every-other-tech-event) - [Making Data Warehouses Fast: A Developer’s Story](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/107-making-data-warehouses-fast-a-developer-s-story) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [7 Cloud Computing Trends Coming in 2025 for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/412-7-cloud-computing-trends-coming-in-2025-for-developers)
