You will define technical standards, champion cloud-native and open-source approaches, and provide expert guidance to development teams, ensuring solutions are robust, secure, and align with central government standards and strategic AI initiatives. This pivotal role requires a strategic leader who thrive in fast paced environments with a deep understanding of Cloud native technologies (AWS, Google, Azure etc), SaaS products (Salesforce, Dynamics etc), GDS Service Standard, a proven track record in the public sector, and a passion for driving digital transformation to serve the public effectively. Types of work you would be involved In: * You will design and implement citizen-facing digital services, ensuring compliance with GDS Service Standards while building in personalisation and proactive features to anticipate citizen needs. This involves leading multi-disciplinary teams through user research, service design, solution architecture and agile development to create intuitive and effective public services. * You will integrate AI into citizen-facing services, developing solutions that enhance interactions through intelligent automation, next best action, virtual assistants, and predictive support. * : You will lead the strategic transformation of CRM and Contact Centre platforms (inc. Salesforce, MS Dynamics, Creatio), modernising systems to improve citizen relationship management and streamline communication channels. This involves implementing new technologies and processes to enhance agent effectiveness and citizen satisfaction. * You will develop and integrate comprehensive omnichannel strategies, ensuring a consistent and unified citizen experience across all touchpoints, including web, mobile applications, and other digital channels. This work focuses on creating cohesive digital journeys that are easy to navigate and highly accessible. * You will enable data-driven delivery to provide data-driven insights and forecasting and make use of tooling and AI to improve delivery efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Architectural Leadership: Lead the technical design of systems and services, justifying and communicating design decisions. Assure the quality of other services and systems, ensuring technical work aligns with the broader government strategy. Provide mentoring and leadership to other architects, exploring cross-government alignment benefits. Detailed Technical Design & Low-Level Architecture: Translate high-level solution architectures into comprehensive technical designs, including component diagrams, API specifications, data models, infrastructure designs, and deployment patterns. Document key architectural decisions and define transitional state architectures for iterative delivery. Cloud-Native & Open Source Implementation : Lead the technical implementation of solutions leveraging cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google), utilising services such as compute, databases, networking, storage, and security. Design application architectures using modern languages and frameworks, with a strong focus on Node.js and Java, and champion the effective use of open-source technologies. Technical Guidance & Assurance: Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to development teams, helping to resolve complex technical challenges and ensuring adherence to architectural principles. Conduct technical reviews of code, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment pipelines to ensure quality, security, and alignment with design specifications.
