Agent guide: [/agents.md](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/agents.md). --- # Designer - Swim - **Company:** Torrid LLC - **Location:** City of Industry, CA, United States - **Experience:** Expert - **Salary:** $85,000.0 - $115,000.0 - **Contract:** Permanent contract - **Skills:** Computer-Aided Design, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office, Whitespace - **Published:** May 29, 2026 - **Apply:** https://www.indeed.com/viewjob?jk=d42bbe084ff25987 ## About the Role Do you have experience in Vendor communication?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * 5+ years of apparel design experience, including Swimwear. * High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred. * Strong Swimwear portfolio with knowledge of plus-size fit and construction preferred. * Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office; hand sketching skills a plus. * Strong understanding of swim fabrics, materials, trims, and garment construction techniques. * Skilled in Illustrator CADs, conceptual design, and trend research across color, fabric, and silhouette. * Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including Design, Product Development, and Merchandising. * Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate design vision and provide clear feedback. * Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment. * Effective written communication skills, including overseas vendor communication. * Ability to work in fit sessions and partner cross-functionally to execute design intent. * Collaborative, solutions-oriented, and customer-focused with a passion for the brand. * Flexible to seasonal business needs and occasional domestic/international travel. ## Description The Designer works closely with the Design Manager to develop and execute assigned categories with the seasonal trend concept and merchandise strategy from inception to completion. They will manage the design execution process to ensure all deadlines are met. What You'll Do: * Pull inspiration tears, fabrics, and trims at the start of each season to set the season's direction. Demonstrate expert knowledge of Swimwear fabrications and construction especially * Successfully communicate design vision to the Design Manager, Merchants, Art Team and Product Development team on all aspects of design and development. * Stay abreast of trends and resources in the swim space; consistently shop and research the marketplace for inspiration, product trend direction, and competitive market insights. * Understand Torrid's best sellers and white space opportunities. * Lead the design and development of pipeline and in-season Swimwear. Partner with Product Development (PD) on innovation for Swimwear, including new fabrics, trims, hardware, and other components. * Use Illustrator CAD skills to create and present design concepts. Confidently present in-season and pipeline ideas to leadership and large groups. * Attend vendor meetings as needed to discuss fabrics, trims, and other design elements. * Collaborate with the Merchandising team to ensure design intent is well-translated and aligned with product vision and aesthetic. * Ensure that all designs are within cost parameters and adhere to the in-season product development calendar and pipeline calendar. * Attend weekly Pipeline fits, weekly Cross-Functional Team (CFT) meetings, bi-weekly in-season fits, milestone meetings, and bi-annual Whitespace meetings. * Build BOM's and tech packs in Centric.
