Working at the intersection of Sales, Product and Delivery, you will lead customer discovery, translate complex business and technical requirements into an implementation-ready solution design, and remain engaged throughout implementation to ensure the agreed architecture is carried through successfully. You will bring structure and clarity to complex enterprise engagements by defining the target solution, identifying risks and dependencies early, and aligning stakeholders before implementation begins. Your work will help customers make confident decisions while enabling Five Sigma to deliver consistently and at scale. Beyond individual customers, you will serve as a strategic feedback loop into Product. By identifying recurring gaps, integration patterns and emerging market needs across implementations, you will help turn customer insights into reusable capabilities and scalable product enhancements rather than one-off solutions. This is a high-impact role with the opportunity to shape how solution architecture operates at Five Sigma and to establish the standards, processes and practices that will support our continued enterprise growth. What you'll do Pre-Sales (support) * Partner with Sales to validate the solution approach before commercial commitment - including technical fit, implementation complexity, risks, assumptions and dependencies. * Bring business and technical depth to solution demos, and contribute to Statements of Work and implementation scoping. Discovery (you own this) * Lead discovery workshops with customer stakeholders; understand their business processes and operating model. * Map customer workflows to Five Sigma capabilities, and design the target solution architecture. * Draw clear lines between standard product, configuration, professional services, product enhancements and partner responsibilities. * Own the Solution Design Document - including business context and end-to-end solution flow, org/sub-org/line-of-business model, coverage and product taxonomy, integration architecture, non-functional requirements and roadmap alignment. * Own integration architecture decisions for each integrated system: synchronous vs. asynchronous, protocol (REST, SOAP, GraphQL, Kafka), file vs. live, push vs. pull, one-way vs. two-way, and authentication (OAuth 2.0, API key, bearer token, mTLS). * Define the non-functional posture: volume and throughput, SLA commitments, security and compliance (SOC 2, GDPR, DPA, data residency), feature-flag posture, availability and disaster recovery. * Align all stakeholders before implementation begins. Implementation (governance and continuity) * Clarify solution intent and resolve architectural questions as Delivery executes. * Review implementation against the agreed design; evaluate change requests and new requirements for alignment. * Capture implementation learnings and recurring customer requests, and feed them back into Product. Requirements: What you'll bring Insurance domain * P&C claims lifecycle end to end : FNOL through settlement, including reserves, reinsurance, subrogation and salvage. * Policy structures: coverage, peril and incident distinctions; limits, deductibles, endorsements and bordereau reporting. * Regulatory context in at least one of our markets - FCA (UK), APRA (Australia), state DOI (US), GDPR/DPA. * Exposure to a range of customer archetypes: Lloyd's coverholders, MGAs, TPAs, direct insurers, InsurTechs and brokers. Technical * Integration architecture across REST, SOAP, webhooks, event streams and file-based patterns - with the ability to make synchronous/asynchronous, push/pull and protocol decisions independently. * API design fundamentals: OpenAPI/Swagger, authentication patterns, idempotency and error handling. * A configuration-first mindset - you know when to configure, when to request a product enhancement and when custom work is genuinely warranted. * Familiarity with modern SaaS architecture, including multi-tenancy, feature flags and role-based access control. Customer-facing * Workshop facilitation - you can run a two-hour discovery session with 5-15 mixed-role attendees and leave with actionable output. * Executive communication - you can present a solution design to C-level stakeholders and defend your architectural choices. * Strong written documentation discipline - the Solution Design Document is your primary artifact and must work for both engineering and business readers. ## Related Videos - [Our GitOps approach for deploying an Identity Provider and an API Gateway in a SaaS company](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/776-our-gitops-approach-for-deploying-an-identity-provider-and-an-api-gateway-in-a-saas-company) - [For the REST of us: API First and Conway’s Law](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1932-for-the-rest-of-us-api-first-and-conway-s-law) - [Using code generation for test automation – the fancy way](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/230-using-code-generation-for-test-automation-the-fancy-way) - [Keeping applications secure by evolving OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100152-keeping-applications-secure-by-evolving-oauth-2-0-and-openid-connect) - [API = Some REST and HTTP, right?
