This team builds an internal platform for delivering AI agents to employees across the company, available on the web, as a desktop application, inside chat clients, and through developer tooling, along with the frameworks other Tesla teams use to build and operate agents of their own. You will decide what gets built, why it matters, and what "good" means for it, then work alongside engineering to see it through. That means owning direction for a set of product surfaces, not executing a backlog someone else wrote. As part of this team, you will o wn the product direction for user-facing surfaces of the platform and the developerfacing frameworks built on top of it. You'll also d efine what quality means for AI agents and put the measurement in place to prove it: evaluation methodology, feedback capture, and review workflows. The role will entail translating messy, competing requests from teams across the company into a roadmap with a defensible order and s et the bar for how AI capabilities are exposed to employees safely, with access scoped to what each user is already permitted to see. You'll e stablish the analytics that explain adoption, agent quality, and cost, and use them to steer the roadmap. What You'll Do * Partner with stakeholders across IT, manufacturing, engineering, and business operations to understand their processes, then convert that understanding into a product plan rather than a feature request queue * Write the specifications, acceptance criteria, and success metrics that engineering builds against, at a level of precision that leaves no ambiguity about what is being shipped * Sit in design and architecture reviews as a technical peer: read the contracts, question the tradeoffs, and understand the cost of what you are asking for * Define the evaluation strategy for AI agents, covering what gets tested, how responses are scored, what regression looks like, and when an agent is ready for production * Drive onboarding and adoption for teams building on the platform, and turn what you learn from them into product improvements to the frameworks and documentation * Own the metric for every feature before it ships, and follow up after launch to say plainly whether it worked * Make prioritization calls in the open, including the decision not to build something, and document the reasoning so it holds up months later * Influence direction across teams without direct authority, and mentor engineers and less experienced product partners on product thinking ## Related Videos - [Building Products in the era of GenAI](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/827-building-products-in-the-era-of-genai) - [Your imaginations is (no longer) the limit: how Generative AI empowers people to be creative](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/741-your-imaginations-is-no-longer-the-limit-how-generative-ai-empowers-people-to-be-creative) - [AI Pair Programming with GitHub Copilot at SAP: Looking Back, Looking Forward!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1546-ai-pair-programming-with-github-copilot-at-sap-looking-back-looking-forward) - [The Future of Developer Experience with GenAI: Driving Engineering Excellence](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1107-the-future-of-developer-experience-with-genai-driving-engineering-excellence) - [Building the Next Generation of Software](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100186-building-the-next-generation-of-software) - [The shadows that follow the AI generative models](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/624-the-shadows-that-follow-the-ai-generative-models) ## Related Articles - [Navigating the AI Shift](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/629-navigating-the-ai-shift) - [What is Software Engineering in the Age of AI?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/640-what-is-software-engineering-in-the-age-of-ai) - [What is Agentic Programming and Why Should Developers Care?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/625-what-is-agentic-programming-and-why-should-developers-care) - [Never delegate the understanding](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/749-never-delegate-the-understanding) - [Transforming Software Development: The Role of AI and Developer Tools](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/527-transforming-software-development-the-role-of-ai-and-developer-tools) - [How to Become an AI Engineer](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/331-how-to-become-an-ai-engineer)
