You're comfortable with both a laptop and a power drill, you don't mind getting your hands dirty (literally - it's a warehouse), and you're excited about the idea of growing into a technical role with real ownership. This is a great fit for someone early in their career who wants hands-on experience across AV, IT, and production in a fun, informal, fast-moving company. ## Description Highway 85 Productions is hiring a Tech Specialist to join our Special Tech Department. This is an entry-level, full-time position for someone who wants to build a real career in AV, LED video walls, and technical production support. You'll work directly alongside the Director of Technology, learning the ins and outs of the equipment, systems, and processes that keep our productions, events, and internal tech running smoothly. This is a small, hands-on department - you won't be siloed into one narrow task. You'll get exposure to everything from LED video wall builds to IT support to inventory management, and your day-to-day will evolve as you grow into the role. We're looking for someone reliable and resourceful who can eventually be trusted to keep things running here while the Director of Technology is traveling for client projects. This is a learning role. You don't need to walk in knowing everything - but you should be genuinely comfortable around technology, both software and hardware, and ready to dig in. WHAT YOU'LL DO Responsibilities will grow and shift based on your skills, interests, and the department's needs. Over time, you may take on work across areas like: AV & LED Production Build, stage, test, maintain, and pack LED video wall equipment; pull, test, and pack TVs and AV accessories; assist with show prep and tech show services coordination (advising on power needs, install requirements, etc.); help maintain LED wiring diagrams and equipment documentation. IT & Tech Support Source and prep new computers; manage accounts (software licenses, email setup, password resets); troubleshoot day-to-day tech issues; support office network, phone systems, and printers; assist with antivirus/cybersecurity basics; wire new offices and workstations; manage meeting space TV/PC setups. Inventory & Equipment Management Manage Special Tech and rental electronics inventory; receive, label, and brand new equipment; manage cables, adapters, and related supplies; own inventory and order management for our inventory management and reservation platform. Documentation & Coordination Help maintain internal and client-facing tech documentation, info packets, and process guides; assist with vendor management; support equipment/supply ordering. Other Department Support Minor video editing for clients; participate in tech R&D and exploring new tools/processes; help with onboarding/IT walkthroughs for new hires; pitch in on company culture touches (monthly birthday celebration, quarterly events, holiday celebrations, etc.) and occasional career day or tour participation. Because this is a small department, you'll likely help with a little bit of everything - flexibility and a willingness to learn new things are essential. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN This role is a strong launching point for a career in AV, IT, live events, or technical production. Over time, you can expect to build skills in: * Hands-on AV and LED video wall installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting * IT support fundamentals (account management, networking basics, hardware setup) * Inventory and warehouse/equipment management systems * Technical documentation and client-facing communication * Show/event production support and on-site coordination * Vendor relationships and equipment sourcing * Independent problem-solving in a fast-moving production environment ## Related Videos - [AI vs Recruiters and Applicants, Turmoil in the Games Industry, What to Put on a CV](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1363-ai-vs-recruiters-and-applicants-turmoil-in-the-games-industry-what-to-put-on-a-cv) - [Thinking Differently - How to Make Money from Cyber Attacks & Cheats](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/745-thinking-differently-how-to-make-money-from-cyber-attacks-cheats) - [Uncertainty Estimation of Neural Networks](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/227-uncertainty-estimation-of-neural-networks) - [Fingerboard to Keyboard: Transposing One Profession to Another](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/868-fingerboard-to-keyboard-transposing-one-profession-to-another) - [What makes Cybersecurity different for critical infrastructure?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/571-what-makes-cybersecurity-different-for-critical-infrastructure) - [Cyber Security: Small, and Large!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/259-cyber-security-small-and-large) ## Related Articles - [System change: restart as developer?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/39-system-change-restart-as-developer) - [From developer to manager – what does it take to become an engineering manager?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/42-from-developer-to-manager-what-does-it-take-to-become-an-engineering-manager) - [Best Paying Remote Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/255-best-paying-remote-jobs) - [How to Write a CV and Interview if You Don't Fully Qualify For The Job](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/183-how-to-write-a-cv-and-interview-if-you-don-t-fully-qualify-for-the-job) - [How to Find Tech Jobs in Vienna](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/292-how-to-find-tech-jobs-in-vienna) - [Should Tech Managers Be Developers First?
