Core skills we need in a candidate include: * Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical people both verbally and in writing. * Experience with software tools such as ticketing systems, chat and text systems, email systems, Microsoft Word and Excel or Google docs * Understanding of the Layer 1-3 of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model * Understanding of Layer 2 protocols such as RSTP, SPB, VLANs, ARP, MAC, etc. * Experience with use of Telnet, SSH, traceroute, ping and other network support/troubleshooting protocols * Experience with NMS (network monitoring systems) such as Solar Winds, Zabbix, OpenNMS, Zennos, Cacti, or Nagios * Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism * Ability to multitask in a high stressed environment * Learn and keep current with technological advances * Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the public, coworkers, and supervisors Screening * Based on the meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education * Criminal background checks are conducted on all UTOPIA positions * Non-disclosure may result in dismissal * Valid, lawful driver's license is required at time of appointment. Physical/Environment Factors * This work requires sitting at a computer for extended periods of time with some level of work taking place on the phone. * Work shift includes swing, or graveyards including weekends and holidays; some overtime required. Pre-Employment Testing * Prior to appointment, applicants will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. ## Description This is a skilled, technical work performed in the office providing supervision, leadership, and expertise in support, analysis, and maintenance of the fiber to the premise network.
