This is a very hands-on role where your job will evolve alongside the lifecycle of the software used both on and off the vehicle. We're looking for a senior-level engineer, a leader with excellent technical and communication skills with extensive experience in Model Based Design (MBD) methodologies and formal methods for verifying and validating safety critical software to established military or commercial standards (e.g. DO-178C or similar). You'll be able to direct system-level aspects of the software design in order to ensure that we're building a streamlined, verifiable software solution. A successful candidate has the skills to author the foundational planning documents for software teams to follow, as well as dive deep into technical areas to resolve issues as they arise in development, integration, or verification. Launch vehicles today are systems of software systems, and this is role is pivotal in qualifying that system for flight., * Define and author the software development and verification plans * Plan and execute the integrated software verification and validation program * Define risk reduction integration methods in coordination with system engineering * Monitor and approve system-level software tests * Work with Guidance & Control engineers or systems engineers to develop testing solutions against system-level performance requirements. * Participate in all aspects of integrated hardware/software system verification and validation including planning, execution, troubleshooting, issue resolution, documentation of results, and reviews * Promote Design for Verification as a core principle of the development team * Help establish the methods and processes necessary to qualify Simulink autocoded low level software requirements * Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers across the program and the company * Collaborate with software development engineers and hardware simulation engineers to identify and resolve root causes of failures * Generate metrics and trending for managing risk and communicating software readiness for flight operations, Applicants for employment at Blue Origin must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S.as a refugee or granted asylum.
