We collect review data at scale, score each business, rank it against its local competitors, and recognize the top performers in their market. We're profitable and growing, with an engineering team of four. Everything - the data pipelines, the web applications, the payment flows, the internal tooling, the infrastructure - is built and maintained in house. The role You'd be writing code day to day, working closely with our senior engineers, who review your pull requests and are there when you get stuck. We're a small team, so you won't be handed a narrow slice of the product and left there - you'll see how the whole thing fits together, and you'll get more ownership as you show you're ready for it. The work is genuinely interesting. The data side involves large partitioned tables, queries that need to stay fast as volumes grow, and pipelines processing substantial amounts of data. There's also a customer-facing web application, payment flows, and internal dashboards, all of which need to be reliable. We're looking for someone who wants to get good at this, not just someone who can already do it. What you'll do - Build and maintain backend services and APIs, with support on the design decisions - Work on our Next.js and tRPC frontends - customer-facing pages and internal dashboards - Write SQL against large datasets and learn what makes queries fast or slow - Fix bugs and ship improvements across the product - Have your pull requests reviewed carefully, and start reviewing others' as you grow - Take smaller projects from idea through to production ## Related Videos - [Navigating Growth, Scaling Challenges, and Office Expansions with David Singleton, CTO at Stripe](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100362-navigating-growth-scaling-challenges-and-office-expansions-with-david-singleton-cto-at-stripe) - [Build and Deploy a Fullstack App with Open Source Tooling](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/775-build-and-deploy-a-fullstack-app-with-open-source-tooling) - [Developing the Backend with Stefan Lingler, CTO at Shpock](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100360-developing-the-backend-with-stefan-lingler-cto-at-shpock) - [Docker Compose: Rediscovered](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1978-docker-compose-rediscovered) - [Meet Your New BFF: Backend to Frontend without the Duct Tape](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/682-meet-your-new-bff-backend-to-frontend-without-the-duct-tape) - [Throwing off the burdens of scale in engineering](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/608-throwing-off-the-burdens-of-scale-in-engineering) ## Related Articles - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [React Developer Salary [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/198-react-developer-salary-2023) - [The 12 Best Jobs for Software Engineers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/401-the-12-best-jobs-for-software-engineers) - [The 7 Most Popular Backend Frameworks for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/403-the-7-most-popular-backend-frameworks-for-developers) - [Where to Find Entry-Level Software Engineering Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/397-where-to-find-entry-level-software-engineering-jobs) - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated)
