This role focuses on engineering and development activities in partnership with the Clinical and Generative AI Team. This is a hybrid role, requiring 2 days per week in the office.As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will help design, build, and maintain the infrastructure and pipelines that enable machine learning models to be deployed, served, and monitored in production for Clinical and Generative AI solutions. You'll work at the intersection of Data Science, Machine Learning, and Software Engineering, playing a key connecting role between data scientists and the customers who rely on their work, ensuring models built by our data science teams are reliably enabled, integrated, and delivered as products.IDEXX Data and AI Center of Excellence (COE) develops and delivers data and AI assets and solutions to enhance IDEXX products, services, internal operations, and business practices. It is a large team of talented engineers, architects, data scientists, and analysts driving cutting-edge AI innovation in veterinary care.Machine Learning Enablement * Build and maintain scalable infrastructure and pipelines supporting model deployment and production inference (not model development itself). * Collaborate with Data Scientists and Product Teams to translate model outputs into robust, production-ready services. * Support the scalability, performance, and reliability of inference workflows. * Design and implement data pipelines that support ML enablement workflows. * Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to engineering best practices. * Apply established software design patterns; contribute to architectural discussions. * Identify and apply practical improvements to ML enablement processes. Collaboration and Development * Contribute to an AI Development Platform that supports adoption of AI capabilities across the enterprise. * Work with Data Engineering and DevOps to build robust processing workflows and pipelines. * Partner with product management and engineering teams to identify reusable datasets, components, and infrastructure. * Balance cost, time, and technical capability when implementing solutions.
