This is a hands-on technical delivery role, not a pure coordination role: the TPM is directly accountable for on-time, on-budget delivery of the entire program and must have real SAP MII development experience - enough to open the existing MII workbench, read the transactions/BLS/query templates directly, and form an independent view of what is actually implemented today. This hands-on background is what lets the TPM validate the delivery team''s understanding of the legacy system, catch misinterpretations early, and give informed recommendations on migration approach - rather than relying entirely on the team''s own assessment of the legacy code. The TPM will bridge business stakeholders, the architecture team, and delivery engineers - translating scope into an executable plan, managing risk and dependencies, and holding the delivery team accountable to milestones., 1. End-to-End Delivery Ownership + Own full execution delivery of the program end-to-end - discovery through hypercare/knowledge transfer + Be accountable for schedule, budget, quality, and scope across all delivery stages + Escalate and resolve cross-team blockers (data, application, infrastructure, business) quickly + Own the delivery plan, RAID log (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies), and status reporting to steering committee/stakeholders 2. SAP MII & Legacy System Expertise + Bring hands-on SAP MII development background (not just conceptual knowledge) - able to personally read and review existing transactions, BLS, query templates, and dashboard/screen logic to understand what is actually implemented today + Independently assess the current MII implementation, work with Architects to design the new application + Provide technical recommendations on migration approach, sequencing, and risk based on direct review of the existing MII codebase, not just secondhand summaries + Partner with technical SMEs and architects to validate complexity scoring, migration wave sequencing, and functional parity requirements against legacy MII screens + Understand shop-floor/plant integration concepts (MES, historian data, real-time tag data) well enough to plan around their constraints + Represent legacy-system risk and nuance in planning discussions with architects and business stakeholders, grounded in first-hand knowledge of the existing system 3. Full Stack Project & Delivery Management + Manage delivery across the full technical stack: data ingestion/platform, middleware/APIs, and front-end/application layers + Review code written by developers across the stack (data pipelines, APIs/middleware, front-end) to verify quality, catch issues early, and confirm work matches the agreed design - not just track status secondhand + Hands-on and personally write code when needed - to unblock the team, patch a critical issue, or validate a fix - rather than relying solely on developers to resolve every technical blocker + Coordinate across data engineers, full stack/application developers, QA, and architecture to keep parallel workstreams aligned + Plan and track wave-based/phased migration delivery, including UAT, reconciliation, and incremental production deployment + Manage environment, release, and deployment planning across data and application components 4. Stakeholder & Governance Management + Serve as primary point of contact for business and IT stakeholders on delivery status + Run governance cadences (steering committee updates, program reviews, delivery team stand-ups) + Manage RACI, resourcing, and dependency tracking across client and delivery teams + Coordinate UAT sign-off, hypercare, and knowledge transfer to ensure clean handover/ownership transition 5. Risk, Scope & Change Management + Proactively identify delivery risk (technical, resourcing, scope) and drive mitigation + Manage change requests and scope variance against the agreed baseline + Ensure quality gates (parity validation, reconciliation vs. legacy system) are met before go-live at each wave ## Related Videos - [Migrating half a million users to a new payment service provider](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/730-migrating-half-a-million-users-to-a-new-payment-service-provider) - [Innovating Developer Tools with AI: Insights from GitHub Next](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1268-innovating-developer-tools-with-ai-insights-from-github-next) - [Improving quality with Agentic AI with Rovo Dev and Xray](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2005-improving-quality-with-agentic-ai-with-rovo-dev-and-xray) - [The user in the eye of the Cargo1492 storm](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/96-the-user-in-the-eye-of-the-cargo1492-storm) - [Bringing AI Model Testing and Prompt Management to Your Codebase with GitHub Models](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1536-bringing-ai-model-testing-and-prompt-management-to-your-codebase-with-github-models) - [Collaboration Quantified: Lessons from Open Source Developer Networks](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1422-collaboration-quantified-lessons-from-open-source-developer-networks) ## Related Articles - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [Should Tech Managers Be Developers First?
