Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 in the Federal service which includes: 1) assisting with tracking background checks for accuracy; 2) performing administrative duties in compliance with office procedures and 3) using office automation software (such as word processing, spreadsheet, database) to draft correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06)., Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. ## Description * Process clearance actions, background investigations, and periodic re-investigations using specialized security tracking databases. * Administer the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) and track staff security training and Individual Development Plans (IDPs). * Facilitate personnel travel authorizations and monitor allocated budgets using travel management software, such as the Defense Travel System (DTS). * Schedule appointments, maintain office calendars, and establish uniform administrative operating procedures. * Review, distribute, and record classified and unclassified mail while drafting official correspondence and reports. * Purchase essential office supplies as an authorized government cardholder (such as Government Purchase Card (GPC) or International Merchant Purchase Authorization Card (I.M.P.A.C.). * Reconcile monthly financial accounts to ensure transaction accuracy and regulatory compliance.
