A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the field of criminal justice, business management, public administration, social science, behavioral science, computer science, or related field is required. (Any acceptable combination of related education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills may be considered as a substitution.) Two years of experience in research analysis and statistics of criminal trend data is required. A certificate in crime analysis and/or intelligence analysis obtained through the International Association of Crime Analysts is required upon hire. The selection process includes, but is not limited to, an interview. Prior to employment, candidates will complete a background investigation, polygraph examination, and physical examination to include a drug screen. The expected duration of the selection process will normally not exceed two months. Candidates not selected may reapply in the future. ## Description Under limited supervision of the administrative captain and/or command staff members, the Crime and Data Analyst develops, analyzes, and maintains systems to extract data from law enforcement reports, crime reports, traffic records, files, and a variety of other sources to ensure accurate and up-to-date statistical data., * Collects, collates, analyzes, reports, and disseminates information/data concerning crime trends and other external forces of information concerning internal mechanisms of the agency; analyzes tactical activities and contributes to intervention efforts as well as supports the investigative functions of the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office; uses confidential access to information concerning law enforcement calls for service, crime reports, cases, arrest records, field interviews, citations, known offender files, and other internal law enforcement data resources to identify, analyze, and resolve criminal activity. * Develops the capability to internally measure and forecast long-term public safety; analyzes activity for the purpose of contributing to problem solving, intervention, and reduction efforts; researches, compiles, analyzes, and interprets statistical data from a variety of sources, including offense and arrest reports, census, economic and demographic reports, and related data; researches, evaluates, and identifies unusual crime activities and community conditions to assist in resource allocation including, but not limited to, patrol scheduling and beat configuration to match demands more effectively and efficiently and reduce or eliminate recurring problems; assists in community and problem-oriented policing activities; creates crime maps and charts. * Supports specific law enforcement activities by providing information and analysis to confidential data and provides decision-supporting intelligence and information which improves law enforcement awareness and judgment in a timely and reliable manner; uses unrestricted access to information concerning law enforcement activity logs, surveillance logs, intelligence files, criminal histories, response plans, emergency operations directive, and other internal law enforcement data resources. * Supports general law enforcement activities by providing information and analysis on law enforcement resources, including but not limited to; redistricting, manpower, and resource allocation; requests of a political nature; plans, organizes, and/or conducts reviews and studies on crime, traffic, budget, grant administration, geographic information, and population/ demographic statistics; develops automated, regular bulletins, and information reports that will handle most routine requests for service; keeps Sheriff personnel informed of potential and actual hazards, crime statistics, patterns, and series through weekly crime bulletins, special reports, graphs, maps, and memoranda; initiates correspondence and memorandum relative to operational and administrative activities; develops and maintains programs which will collect, collate, analyze, and disseminate crime activity data, including frequency, geographic factors, victims, targets, suspect descriptors, chronological information, suspect vehicle descriptions, modus operandi factors, potential and actual law enforcement hazards, and physical evidence information. * Attends meetings with representatives from other municipalities, county, and state agencies to include data collaboration and inter-agency cooperation; maintains organization ties to local and national crime analysis associations including, but not limited to, International Association of Crime Analysts, Colorado Crime Analysts Association, crime mapping, and crime analysis related list servers. * Presents information to roll calls, briefings, command staff, and public/community forums; provides crime analysis training and presentations to law enforcement and interpersonnel, outside professional groups, and other agencies/individuals/groups visiting the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office. Provides information and maintains liaison among law enforcement agencies and other county personnel and the public regarding crime and criminal activities; provides information to the Sheriff and Board of County Commissioners for decision-making purposes, presents analysis, and statistics in various internal and external forums. * Applies Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to prepare and display crime and other related data in support of investigative, management, and administrative tasks; maintains up-to-date and proficiency in requisite GIS and Crime Analysis methods, tools, and procedures; uses all available resources, including Geographic Information Systems, to identify crime; documents crime clusters and defines "hot spots"., One Personal Day (County employees will have one paid personal day off in 2026. This paid day off is to be chosen by the employee and approved by their Elected Official or Department Director.) * = Regular Part-Time Employees who are scheduled to work on a 2026 Holiday will receive Holiday Pay for two (2) of the Holidays of their choice (marked with the single asterisk * above) as approved by their Elected Official or Department Director * When a holiday falls on a Saturday, Friday will be celebrated as the County holiday * When a holiday falls on a Sunday, Monday will be celebrated as the County holiday * Early releases are at the discretion of the Elected Official or Department Director and may vary based on the operational needs of their offices/departments. * All time off work taken by County employees for the days designated as Early Release shall be considered holiday time off for purposes "worked time" in determining Overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). * If an employee is absent the day preceding or following the holiday without prior approval, the employee will not be paid for the holiday * The following time off types will not contribute to the daily or weekly overtime calculation: Unpaid Days Off, Unpaid Personal Days, and Unpaid Early Release Days. * Any employee that is required to work by their supervisor on a designated Unpaid Day Off, a designated Unpaid Personal Day or during a designated Unpaid Early Release period shall be paid for work required and performed during such days and periods. * No employee may work during an Unpaid Day Off, an Unpaid Personal Day, or during an Unpaid Early Release period without the express authorization of their supervisor. This Resolution contemplates and authorizes supervisors to direct work during Unpaid Days Off, Unpaid Personal Days, or Unpaid Early Release Periods for community safety and County government essential activities such as snow removal, social worker visits for child welfare and other family emergencies, response to emergency calls by facilities and fleet employees, and required court appearances by County employees. * For weeks in which an Unpaid Day Off or an Unpaid Early Release takes place, County Exempt employees are designated as Non-Exempt employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Those employees so designated will be required to clock in and out of work via email to their Director for all days worked during weeks that include an Unpaid Day Off. * No employees shall be permitted to work over 40 hours during a week that includes an Unpaid Day Off or an Unpaid Early Release without the express written authorization of their Director or Elected Official. *** The above 2026 Holiday Schedule Resolution was originally approved by the Board of County Commissioners on December 15th, 2025 and then revised on February 12th, 2026 & March 12th, 2026***, Coverage pays 60% of your wages up to $4,800 with a 90-day waiting period. Your monthly cost = (monthly pay)/100 x 0.410 BASIC LIFE AND AD&D BENEFIT (required) Employees are required to purchase the basic option for $3.10, however, they may elect to purchase additional coverage. FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT (optional) This benefit allows you to pay for certain expenses (medical and/or dependent care needs) with "pre-tax" dollars. You specify the dollar amount you would like deducted from your monthly paycheck (minimum of $25), then when you incur an eligible expense, you pay it. Then you submit a claim form and original receipt for reimbursement. Note: According to IRS rules, any funds left in your FSA account(s) at the end of the year cannot be returned to you. They are considered "use or lose" funds.
