Our platform runs globally across Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut using peer-to-peer replication, network service discovery, and embedded web servers to keep restaurants running even when the network doesn't - all built on a 100% Kotlin codebase with a modern Android stack including Jetpack Compose. As a Senior Software Engineer II, you will own delivery of features end to end, contribute to engineering decisions within your area, and help ensure our users' and brands' needs are met. Your day-to-day: * Engineering Execution: * Use AI dev tooling as part of your daily workflow to improve productivity across development, testing and documentation, while maintaining full ownership of quality, security and correctness. * Implement and uphold MVVM architecture patterns and write comprehensive unit and integration tests to keep the codebase clean, testable and maintainable. * Own features end to end - design, implementation, testing and deployment (CI/CD) - with the quality bar of a high-volume, always-on environment. * Build an Android-based point-of-sale and operations platform that is a critical tool in tens of thousands of restaurants around the world. * Problem Solving: * Scale and optimize the platform to support worldwide expansion across various markets. * Tune performance with the consideration that our app runs potentially all day long. * Interface with and support a myriad of hardware devices while building abstractions around them. * Solve problems with new and emerging technologies including distributed databases, real-time syncing, message queues, and distributed transactions. * Communication and Collaboration: * Self-direct and prioritize your own work, and contribute to a team culture where engineers are excited to show up to work. * Communicate complex topics/problems in an articulate manner. * Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, quality assurance and brand teams to deliver cohesive features across KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell. ## Related Videos - [Kotlin Multiplatform - True power of native code reuse](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/4-kotlin-multiplatform-true-power-of-native-code-reuse) - [Vertical Slice Architecture: Micro Frontends Across Mobile, Backend & ML](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100341-vertical-slice-architecture-micro-frontends-across-mobile-backend-ml) - [Leveraging Real time data in FSIs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/806-leveraging-real-time-data-in-fsis) - [APIs and Architecture for scaling omnichannel payments](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/90-apis-and-architecture-for-scaling-omnichannel-payments) - [Why Kotlin is the better Java and how you can start using it](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/661-why-kotlin-is-the-better-java-and-how-you-can-start-using-it) - [NoSQL Data Modeling for Front-end Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/297-nosql-data-modeling-for-front-end-developers) ## Related Articles - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [React Developer Salary [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/198-react-developer-salary-2023)
