Technical Expertise Strong foundation in: * Algorithms and data structures * Applied mathematics, statistics, or physics-based modeling * Proven experience designing complex estimation or modeling systems Deep knowledge of: * Event-driven architecture * Distributed systems and microservices * Enterprise data and information architecture Frameworks & Methodologies * Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF preferred). * Working knowledge of BizBOK and DAMA-DMBOK. * 5+ years of SAFe experience (or equivalent Agile at scale framework). Professional Skills * Exceptional problem-solving skills with ability to address highly complex, ambiguous challenges. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams. ## Description The Sr. System Architect is a key technical leader responsible for driving research, design, and evolution of advanced estimation systems within a rail transportation domain. This role requires deep expertise in algorithms, applied mathematics, and physics-based modeling, combined with enterprise architecture leadership. This individual will lead R&D efforts for next-generation estimation capabilities, ensuring solutions are accurate, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards., Architecture & Technical Leadership * Lead the architecture, design, and evolution of advanced estimation platforms, incorporating algorithmic, statistical, and physics-based modeling approaches. * Define and implement enterprise-grade system architectures leveraging modern patterns such as: + Event-driven architecture + Microservices and distributed systems + Data-intensive and real-time processing frameworks * Establish architectural standards aligned with frameworks such as TOGAF, BizBOK, and DAMA-DMBOK. R&D and Algorithmic Innovation * Drive research and development (R&D) initiatives focused on estimation methodologies, including: + Optimization algorithms + Simulation models + Predictive analytics and probabilistic modeling * Apply advanced mathematics, statistics, and physics principles to solve complex estimation challenges. * Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies and techniques into the estimator ecosystem. Domain & Solution Design * Architect and deliver large-scale rail transportation modernization solutions, ensuring domain alignment. * Design systems that solve multi-domain business problems spanning operations, planning, and financial estimation. * Provide thought leadership in enterprise information management and data architecture. Technology Leadership * Guide engineering teams across a broad technology landscape, including: + Legacy platforms (IBM Mainframe, TPF) + Modern stacks (Java, Spring Boot, cloud-native services) * Drive transition strategies from legacy to modern, event-driven ecosystems.
