Agent guide: [/agents.md](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/agents.md). --- # Staff Hardware Engineer, Test Systems - **Company:** Knowles Corporation - **Location:** Itasca, IL, United States - **Experience:** Experienced - **Salary:** $135,000.0 - $150,000.0 - **Contract:** Permanent contract - **Skills:** 3D Printing, Altium Designer, Computer Programming, Software Debugging, Logic Synthesis of Circuits, Hardware Design, Signal Processing, System on a Chip - **Published:** August 7, 2026 - **Apply:** https://www.indeed.com/viewjob?jk=cb129deadfa08198 ## About the Role * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required, MS preferred with 4 - 15 years of experience developing hardware for small signal audio, and or large signal audio test solutions. * 12+ years of relevant experience developing advanced hardware test systems. * Demonstrated success leading complex technical programs across multiple sites. * Experience influencing technical strategy and mentoring engineering teams. * Experience designing, building, and debugging electronic systems using digital oscilloscopes, power supplies, I2C digital bus, and standard small signal electrical lab equipment. * Altium Designer Knowles and experience with at least 4 layer PCBs. * Knowledge of audio or signal processing techniques, analog/digital conversions. * Knowledge of structured hardware and software principles and methods. * Preferred experience and or system on chip (SoC) programming. * Preferred, but not needed experience of digital design techniques. * Preferred, but not needed experience of transducers and acoustics is desirable. * Preferred, but not needed experience of designing 3D printed prototypes. * Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. ## Description * Co-Develop Acoustic Test solutions for the production factory and R&D, follow department processes; requirements, schematics, component selection, wiring diagrams, theory of operation, PCB layout, calibration, and lead technical reviews. * Perform statistical analysis to characterize and validate acoustic test systems. Drive standardization of test platforms, hardware architecture, calibration methodologies, and measurement systems across sites. Build and maintain cross-functional working relationships both locally and abroad. Partner with Operations, Product Engineering, Quality, NPI, and Manufacturing leadership to define next-generation test strategies.
