The PDS is an expert in their field who also has a clear grasp on the fundamentals of data management and utilization. The PDS uses information accumulated from B&H's decades of online information gathering alongside their own product knowledge and that of other B&H departments to normalize existing specifications and build and maintain templates for others to fill, working with relevant teams in the process to ensure utility and usability. From there, they use internal tools and database management practices (i.e. SQL) to manipulate those specifications in ways that can be used by other teams for their own purposes. The PDS ensures that product data becomes and remains clean, consistent, and functional.
