(or commensurate experience) + 12+ years of experience in cloud tools, Databricks, Data Lake integrations, and workspace provisioning. + Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills Preferred Skills and Experience: + Azure Administrator and/or AWS Cloud Practitioner certification + Experience with SQL SErver, Active Directory, Data Lake design, data governance, cloud migration, business intelligence, GitHub, Terraform, ansible and Kubernetes. + Hands-on experience with Azure or other major cloud platforms. + Experience with Databricks workspace administration, catalog creation, mount configurations, and cluster setup. + Familiarity with cloud identity and access management (IAM), including Service Principals, role-based access control (RBAC), and persona-based configurations. + Working knowledge of data lake architectures, especially Delta Lake or similar structured storage solutions. + Experience automating cloud provisioning workflows (e.g., Terraform, ARM, Bicep, PowerShell, Python). + Background supporting enterprise-scale data modernization or cloud migration initiatives. + Understanding of intake workflows, user provisioning, or data-access onboarding processes. + Ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering and business teams. + Strong documentation practices and experience building standard operating procedures. + Experience supporting public sector or healthcare data environments is a plus. Clearance Required + Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/Public Trust ## Description GovCIO is seeking an experienced Cloud Data Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Data Modernization initiative. This role focuses on designing, provisioning, and automating cloud-based data workspaces that accelerate user onboarding, improve data accessibility, and strengthen platform reliability. The ideal candidate will work hands-on with modern cloud tools, Databricks, VHA Data Lake integrations, and automated workspace creation. This position is fully remote, located in the United States.
