This is not a traditional systems administration or DevOps scripting role. You will be building software products using Python and PowerShell-designing reusable libraries, modules, command-line tools, endpoint components, integrations, and automation frameworks that must perform reliably across diverse and sometimes highly constrained environments. If you are a strong software developer who also understands how operating systems actually work-and you enjoy solving difficult compatibility, performance, and systems-level problems-this role may be a great fit. What You'll Do As a senior member of the engineering team, you will take capabilities from requirements and design through development, testing, release, and ongoing support. You will: * Build production-quality software using Python and PowerShell. * Develop endpoint discovery, assessment, software inventory, patching, application update, remediation, network discovery, and remote-execution capabilities. * Create reusable libraries, modules, frameworks, command-line utilities, and automation tools. * Integrate product components with REST APIs, NoSQL data stores, and relational databases. * Solve complex Windows and cross-platform systems-engineering problems. * Develop software that operates reliably across current and legacy operating systems and constrained environments. * Modernize existing code while maintaining compatibility with deployed environments. * Build automated unit, integration, regression, compatibility, and performance tests. * Profile and optimize software for performance at enterprise scale. * Participate in architecture, code reviews, CI/CD, packaging, versioning, and controlled releases. * Mentor other engineers while remaining a hands-on contributor. ## Related Videos - [The weekly developer show: Boosting Python with CUDA, CSS Updates & Navigating New Tech Stacks](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1293-the-weekly-developer-show-boosting-python-with-cuda-css-updates-navigating-new-tech-stacks) - [Leveraging Real time data in FSIs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/806-leveraging-real-time-data-in-fsis) - [Docker network without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1418-docker-network-without-docker) - [From DevOps to Scaled DevOps: How We’re Rebuilding Continuous Delivery as a Platform](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100018-from-devops-to-scaled-devops-how-we-re-rebuilding-continuous-delivery-as-a-platform) - [#90DaysOfDevOps - The DevOps Learning Journey](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/548-90daysofdevops-the-devops-learning-journey) - [Enterprise Python: Software That Lives Long And Prosper](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/946-enterprise-python-software-that-lives-long-and-prosper) ## Related Articles - [The 13 Best Python Libraries for Developers in 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/371-the-13-best-python-libraries-for-developers-in-2025) - [7 good reasons why you should learn Python in 2021](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/19-7-good-reasons-why-you-should-learn-python-in-2021) - [Now is the time for industrialized software development](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/601-now-is-the-time-for-industrialized-software-development) - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [Should senior developers refuse interview coding challenges?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/29-should-senior-developers-refuse-interview-coding-challenges) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline)
