At , a globally recognized research center of the University of Groningen for brain-inspired (neuromorphic) computing, we are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to conduct research on Adaptive object grasping within our demonstrator programme. The goal of CogniGron's demonstrator programme is to develop prototypes and proof of concepts that showcase the potential of neuromorphic technologies for solving current challenges in computing. What are you going to do? You will work in the interdisciplinary environment of CogniGron that is part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Your project is related to the demonstrator topic of Health monitoring & diagnostics. In this research area, current challenges are the development of ultra-low-power wearables that in the future could use ambient energy harvesting, and the capabilities for on-device processing in order to integrate personalised models and avoid the transfer of sensitive data. In this project, we collaborate with biomedical researchers and other stakeholders to develop prosthetic limbs with faster control and real-time adaptation. The specific goal of this PhD project is to design an AI-based control algorithm for the prosthetic leg and to use piezoelectric sensors tracking the contact points across space and time to predict gait and to integrate fast adaptation. Why should you consider this position? * Collaboration with industry and other external partners: Your research is directly contributing to demonstrating the advantages of neuromorphic technologies for real-world biomedical applications * Supporting innovation: You will play a key role in developing new computer technologies that offer significant improvements over current conventional technologies at a research centre that is at the forefront of interdisciplinary neuromorphic computing research. * (Inter)national collaboration: You will work within a vibrant, highly international, multidisciplinary and innovative environment with leading researchers and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow PhDs and researchers from various disciplines ## Related Videos - [Enabling intelligent logistics automation: home-grown Industrial IoT platform at Austrian Post](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2018-enabling-intelligent-logistics-automation-home-grown-industrial-iot-platform-at-austrian-post) - [Edit Your Future: Queerverse Radical AI](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/909-edit-your-future-queerverse-radical-ai) - [Perfect Pitch: Unveiling the Mathematical Symphony Behind a Guitar Tuner](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1095-perfect-pitch-unveiling-the-mathematical-symphony-behind-a-guitar-tuner) - [Strange New Worlds: shaping the future of the digital age](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/677-strange-new-worlds-shaping-the-future-of-the-digital-age) - [It's not easy being green](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/558-it-s-not-easy-being-green) - [DOOM on Neurons, Training AI with Harry Potter & Robots Watching YouTube - Zoran Jambor](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1823-doom-on-neurons-training-ai-with-harry-potter-robots-watching-youtube-zoran-jambor) ## Related Articles - [Best Companies in the Netherlands: Top 25 Companies in 2023 ](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/193-best-companies-in-the-netherlands-top-25-companies-in-2023) - [The Netherlands – Europe’s powerhouse for software development?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/31-the-netherlands-europe-s-powerhouse-for-software-development) - [How to land a developer job in Amsterdam](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/36-how-to-land-a-developer-job-in-amsterdam) - [How to Find Tech Jobs in Amsterdam](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/279-how-to-find-tech-jobs-in-amsterdam) - [Software Developer Salary in The Netherlands [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/217-software-developer-salary-in-the-netherlands-2023) - [Average Salary in The Netherlands](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/272-average-salary-in-the-netherlands)
