Problem Solving * Strong debugging skills - able to determine source of issues in unfamiliar code or systems. * Recognizes and solves repetitive problems rather than working around them. * Breaks down large problems into smaller, manageable ones. Communication * Clearly and concisely interacts with team members; documents work in an easy-to-follow manner. * Takes in well-scoped requirements and asks the right questions to ensure clarification. * Seeks out and receives constructive criticism well. Leadership * Self-motivated in identifying personal growth opportunities. * Comfortable using AI coding assistants as part of everyday engineering work. What is a Must Have? * Bachelor's degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience. * 2 additional years of software engineering experience. ## Description This engineer will contribute to the BSI Cyber Scan platform - a multi-codebase system spanning Elixir services, Python components, JavaScript/React front-end, PostgreSQL databases, and AWS Lambda/Step functions. The platform is central to Travelers' cyber underwriting capability and feeds multiple stakeholder groups: Data Science, Risk Services, Data Platform, Underwriting, Pricing, and RQI Platforms. ? Per the job requisition, this role is responsible for: * Performing analysis, design, development, and configuration functions and defining technical requirements for assignments of intermediate complexity. * Participating with the team to perform analysis, assessment, and resolution for defects and incidents of intermediate complexity, escalating appropriately. * Working within team guidelines to independently tackle well-scoped problems. * Seeking opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.
