## About the Role

We are looking for a mid-level Python Backend Engineer with strong engineering fundamentals and an interest in AI to build and evolve the services and integrations behind Helu. Hands-on experience with technologies such as LLMs, MCP or agents is a plus., * 3+ years of Python professional experience.

 * Experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks.
 * Solid understanding of software design and engineering best practices.
 * Robust SQL knowledge.
 * Experience with Git, CI/CD and AWS.
 * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
 * Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice to Have

 * Experience with Docker, GraphQL or Terraform.
 * Experience building LLM-powered product features.
 * Familiarity with MCP, tool calling, AI agents, RAG or vector databases.
 * Experience operating or evaluating AI-powered systems.

## Description

Backend Engineering

 * Design, build and maintain scalable backend services in Python.
 * Build reliable APIs, integrations and business logic.
 * Write clean, reliable and well-tested code.
 * Improve system performance, reliability, security and maintainability.
 * Identify technical bottlenecks and continuously improve the platform.
 * Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
 * Expose existing system capabilities through clear, secure and well-structured interfaces.

AI Engineering

 * Contribute to production-ready LLM-powered features.
 * Help connect AI systems to Helu's backend capabilities through APIs, tools and standards such as MCP.
 * Build agents that can understand user intent and safely interact with Helu's data and product capabilities.
 * Implement validation, guardrails, permissions and fallback mechanisms.

Cross-functional Collaboration

 * Collaborate with Product, Frontend and Data engineers.
 * Help shape architecture decisions across Backend and AI.
 * Share knowledge across teams and continuously improve engineering standards.
