Agent guide: [/agents.md](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/agents.md). --- # Design Engineer Graduate - **Company:** Textron, Inc. - **Location:** Ipswich, UK - **Experience:** Starter - **Contract:** Permanent contract - **Skills:** Computer-Aided Design, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, Systems Architecture, Ansys - **Published:** September 3, 2026 - **Apply:** https://dejobs.org/x/x/FFB7B2015E8749049D3AB0B4DAC723C4/job/ ## About the Role As a Design Engineer I, we would ask you bring the following skills and experience: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an Engineering discipline, ideally Mechanical Engineering. * Experience designing with a range of materials, including steels, plastics and alloys. * Exposure to engineering development processes such as prototyping, testing, or design-for-manufacture desirable. * Knowledge of DFME and PFMEA. * Proficiency in CAD software (NX preferred) required. * Familiarity with FEA tools, ideally ANSYS, to support basic analysis and validation activities. * Hands-on approach, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to take design concepts through to medium-volume production. * Self-motivated, capable of working independently toward defined objectives with minimal supervision. * Strong attention to detail, with proven problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to engineering tasks. * An interest in expanding knowledge across wider mechanical engineering disciplines as part of professional development. ## Description This is a full-time role based at our manufacturing facility in Ipswich, Suffolk. As a Design Engineer I, you will support the delivery of high-quality mechanical design work across a range of projects. Working under the guidance of senior-engineering staff, you will contribute to the development of reliable, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions that meet performance targets and regulatory requirements.
