You will work within a dynamic team of Node.js software engineers to design, develop, and ship product features, collaborating closely with the engineering team to ensure that data flows, APIs, and front-end experiences benefit from robust, well-documented integration points. This is an AI-native engineering role. FormAssembly integrates AI capabilities at the product level. You will be authoring specifications before implementation and using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code to drive development from those specs. Candidates should be able to demonstrate this working style with real examples from their own work. You will develop robust backend services and data pipelines on PostgreSQL, ensure data governance, compliance, and security best practices when handling sensitive data, and collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure services are containerized and deployed efficiently on AWS services such as ECS or Kubernetes. The ideal candidate demonstrates a proactive, collaborative mindset - comfortable interfacing with Product, UX, and executive stakeholders - and thrives in a fast-paced, iterative environment where feedback loops are short and new ideas are welcomed., Feature Development. Design, build, and ship product features for FormAssembly using Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL, ensuring scalability, observability, and reliable execution in production. Spec-Driven Development. Author clear technical specifications before implementation, refine them through team review, and use them to drive development so that intent, design decisions, and acceptance criteria are captured before code is written. AI-Assisted Engineering. Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code as a core part of the development workflow - planning, implementing, testing, and reviewing against specs - while maintaining full ownership of code quality and correctness. Data Processing. Design schemas and build data pipelines in PostgreSQL to automate the ingestion, transformation, and loading of datasets, ensuring quality, performance, and suitability for product features. Deployment. Integrate features into existing applications and infrastructure, collaborating with DevOps to ensure efficient, cost-effective deployment on AWS. Collaboration. Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective solutions. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing. Create and maintain documentation and training materials, mentor other team members, and share best practices to foster a continuous improvement culture. ## Related Videos - [How a Small Team Shrank a Microsoft Monorepo by 94%](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1236-how-a-small-team-shrank-a-microsoft-monorepo-by-94) - [From DevOps to Scaled DevOps: How We’re Rebuilding Continuous Delivery as a Platform](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100018-from-devops-to-scaled-devops-how-we-re-rebuilding-continuous-delivery-as-a-platform) - [Innovating Developer Tools with AI: Insights from GitHub Next](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1268-innovating-developer-tools-with-ai-insights-from-github-next) - [The AI-Native Engineering Org: What’s Real, What’s Hype, What’s Next](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100004-the-ai-native-engineering-org-what-s-real-what-s-hype-what-s-next) - [Git for Code Reviews](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/429-git-for-code-reviews) - [The Intent Engineer: Closing the Gap Between Business & Engineering - Manuel Klein](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1855-the-intent-engineer-closing-the-gap-between-business-engineering-manuel-klein) ## Related Articles - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [Why Attend a Developer Event in 2026?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/688-why-attend-a-developer-event-in-2026) - [What is Agentic Programming and Why Should Developers Care?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/625-what-is-agentic-programming-and-why-should-developers-care) - [WeAreDevelopers Dev Digest Issue 116 - The new search wars…](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/445-wearedevelopers-dev-digest-issue-116-the-new-search-wars)
